2014 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: June 18

Welcome back to another edition of the Daily Fix. Our partners at Draftstreet have some exciting games you can get involved in. Sign up is easy and they have some exciting games to get involved in. The biggest is the one million dollar pay out that is possible for one lucky player. Of course, not everyone is that ambitious. Draftstreet has games starting off as low as a dollar for those that just want to play for fun or bragging rights.

One of the great things about Draftstreet is the number of game combinations you can play. They offer salary cap and snake draft setups in addition to standard tiered payouts and double payouts. The one million dollar payout comes from another type of game where you must qualify before you even get a chance at the dough. Those kinds of games definitely reward players that are more knowledgeable. If you are a beginner then you might stick to the double up games like I do. It offers everyone the best odds, so there is more room for error.

Personally, I try to go with as many blue chip players as I possibly can. Otherwise, you can play the match-up game where you try to pick on struggling teams or struggling pitchers. You can certainly be successful that way, but with nearly half of the season done, we can find enough blue chippers to make a go of it. As always, I will add a secondary lineup.

Ten of his 13 home runs have come since May 1st. Five in June alone.

Wade Miley is very hittable and Gennett is hitting close to .300

3B

Brett Lawrie

Chase Whitley

He may be hitting for a low average, but is on pace for a career high in HR.

SS

Jose Reyes

7325

Chase Whitley

The shortstop pickings are slim on this day.

OF

Gregory Polanco

5846

Alfredo Simon

He is hitting a ton, so take advantage before the price goes way up.

OF

Jacoby Ellsbury

5655

Mark Buehrle

Buehrle has been good, but he is very hittable.

OF

Dexter Fowler

5433

Gio Gonzalez

He hit .231 in April. He is well over .300 since with 31 walks.

U

Brett Gardner

5735

Mark Buehrle

He’s been pretty steady all season long.

SP

Matt Garza

16,403

Arizona Diamondbacks

He’s been up and down, but the Dbacks have been mostly down.

SP

Mark Buehrle

16,443

New York Yankees

The AL wins leader will likely regress. Let’s just hope it’s not today.

SP

C.J. Wilson

16,885

Cleveland Indians

Probably the best pitcher on the Angels staff.

Here at the Fix, we always offer a second lineup just in case the unexpected happens. Draftstreet will allow you to change your lineup up until game time and I’ve won before because I was able to make changes. Sometimes weather wreaks havoc with your lineup or sometimes a key player gets scratched.

C

Carlos Corporan

5109

Gio Gonzalez

He’s been extremely hot lately and he murders lefties.

1B

Ike Davis

5369

Alfredo Simon

He’s been fairly steady since going to the Pirates

2B

Brandon Phillips

5115

3B

Carlos Santana

6032

C.J. Wilson

Ignore the low batting average and look at the rest of the numbers.

SS

Derek Jeter

4731

Mark Buehrle

He’s not the 30 year old Jeter, but he’s still a solid hitter.

OF

George Springer

5301

Gio Gonzalez

This is an absurdly low price for him.

OF

Khris Davis

6439

Wade Miley

He is quietly on a pace to hit 25 or more home runs.

SP

Andrew Cashner

17,199

Seattle Mariners

This is a very good matchup for Cashner.

SP

Alfredo Simon

Pittsburgh Pirates

If you need a lower priced starter, he’s your man.
