2014 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: May 21

draftstreet

Welcome to another edition of the daily fix. If you want to join in the fun, you can go to Draftstreet and sign up. They are offering some good bonuses at the moment, so there is no better time than now to sign up. Last week was a disappointing week for yours truly, but the great thing about daily fantasy baseball is that every day is a new day. So, we get back in the saddle and try again.

Today we will be going with the hot hand approach. The key with the hot hand approach is to find a group of players that are underpriced. The folks at Draftstreet (much like the other sites) are experts at determining a player’s value for any particular day. It depends largely on matchups and overall performance. Occasionally, you can get ahead of the game by picking a player that has been hot recently.

He seems to have solid seasons every other year. This is his year.

OF

Justin Upton

Upton is not a star performer, but he is a solid run producer.

U

Jason Heyward

Kyle Lohse

Like with Carpenter, he is just starting to heat up.

SP

Collin McHugh

13035

Los Angeles Angels

He will come back to earth eventually. He is hoping he last another start.

SP

Phil Hughes

16366

San Diego Padres

He has pitched well the last several times out.

SP

Erik Bedard

12885

Oakland Athletics

He pitched well last season, so this shouldn’t be a surprise.

We always like to offer alternatives whenever we can. I can’t promise that the salary cap figures will work, but different people like different strategies and playing different games, so we offer a different choice, Most of them still fall under the hot hand approach, but some people don’t like pitting hitters against pitchers they’ve taken or vice versa.
