In this article we will be going over the top 10 players in each major statistical category (excluding percentages). We will list and review each category to give you the best analysis for your fantasy basketball league. Everything you need to know about the hottest players of the week.
Points
1. LeBron James, CLE 36.5
2. Carmelo Anthony, NYK 29.5
3. Kyrie Irving, CLE 29.5
4. James Harden, HOU 26.7
5. Anthony Davis, NO 25.3
6. Reggie Jackson, OKC 24.8
7. Rudy Gay, SAC 24.7
8. Brandon Jennings 23.8
9. Stephen Curry 23.8
10. 2 tied Blake Griffin, Damian Lillard 23.0
Biggest Surprise
No huge surprises this week. It’s always a bit of a surprise when two of the top three are from one team. Not so much in Cleveland though. If we have to pick one person it would have to be Jennings.
Who’s For Real?
Jackson has to do everything for the Thunder right now. Until their stars get healthy look for Jackson to stay on this list.
Who’s A Fraud?
With few surprises, comes no real frauds. Jennings will likely be inconsistent but we wouldn’t say fraud.
Who’s Missing?
Kobe Bryant is the obvious choice here. This is mostly due to the fact he played one of the worst games of his career on Friday.
Further Analysis:
Last week we said the obvious choices for “who’s missing” was LeBron and Melo. The Fraud was Kevin Martin. No surprise Melo and King James are the top two players and Martin is nowhere to be found.
Assists
1. Rajon Rondo, BOS 14.0
2. Chris Paul, LAC 10.0
3. Tyreke Evans, NO 8.3
4. LeBron James, CLE 8.0
5. James Harden, HOU 8.0
6. Ty Lawson, DEN 8.0
7. Damian Lillard, POR 7.8
8. 4 tied Reggie Jackson, John Wall, Jrue Holiday, Trey Burke 7.5
Biggest Surprise
The biggest surprise has to be Evans, especially considering that his point guard Jrue Holiday is on the list as well. It’s good to see Evans playing well though.
Who’s For Real?
Rondo is the real deal. He may not drop out of the top five all season.
Who’s A Fraud?
Harden won’t be on this list consistently. Not that he can’t pass, but he is and always will be a shoot first guy. Similar to Kobe.
Who’s Missing?
Tony Parker has not been great this year and has not found himself on this list. Parker should bounce back sooner than later.
Further Analysis:
It looks like Rondo and Paul are going to be on the top of this list all season while the rest of the guys will be shuffling around. If you lost Ricky Rubio and are looking for an assist guy, Norris Cole may be a nice option. He’s playing very well in Miami.
Rebounds
1. DeAndre Jordan, LAC 13.5
2. Dwight Howard, HOU 13.0
3. Andre Drummond, DET 12.5
4. Tyson Chandler, DAL 12.0
5. Pau Gasol, CHI 11.7
6. Andrew Bogut, GS 11.3
7. Tim Duncan, SA 11.3
8. Joakim Noah, CHI 11.0
9. Paul Millsap, ATL 10.8
10. 2 tied Zach Randolph, Lance Stephenson 10.7
Biggest Surprise
It’s two weeks in a row now but it’s still Stephenson. As a matter of fact it’s more surprising the second time.
Who’s For Real?
Andre Drummond is an absolute monster, He’s the kind of guy that will hit the 20 rebound mark this season. Probably more than once.
Who’s A Fraud?
We have to go Stephenson again this week. If he’s back on this list next week, he has clearly proven me wrong.
Who’s Missing?
Anthony Davis was a surprise no show this week. We have no doubt he’ll be back soon.
Further Analysis:
Last week we wondered where Jordan was. Much like LeBron, he rebounded in a major way and took the top spot.
Blocks
1. Dwight Howard, HOU 5.5
2. Anthony Davis, NO 4.3
3. DeAndre Jordan, LAC 3.0
4. Andrew Bogut, GS 2.3
5. James Johnson, TOR 2.3
6. Chris Kaman, POR 2.3
7. Pau Gasol, CHI 2.3
8. Draymond Green, GS 2.3
9. 3 tied Serge Ibaka, Derrick Favors, Samuel Dalembert 2.0
Biggest Surprise
We didn’t expect to find Kaman anywhere in this article. Yet there he is. I guess a five block game will do that for you.
Who’s For Real?
Howard is beginning to play defense this season like he used to in Orlando. Look for him to continue blocking shots and stay near the top of this list all season.
Who’s A Fraud?
Kaman just won’t see the playing time to continue putting numbers. His production is a bit skewed by one big game.
Who’s Missing?
Roy Hibbert missed the cut this week. He needs to be a major presence in the paint for the Pacers. They are not good and great defense and hustle is their only hope.
Further Analysis:
It is very strange still not seeing Ibaka higher on this list. The Thunder need him to do what he does best if they want to stay competitive. Look for Larry Sanders to break out soon as well.
Steals
1. DeAndre Jordan, LAC 3.5
2. John Wall, WAS 3.5
3. Anthony Davis, NO 2.8
4. James Harden, HOU 2.7
5. Corey Brewer, MIN 2.7
6. Rajon Rondo, BOS 2.5
7. Gordon Hayward, UTA 2.3
8. Stephen Curry, GS 2.3
9. Trevor Ariza, HOU 2.3
10. 13 tied with 2.0
Biggest Surprise
The biggest surprise is seeing Jordan atop this list. If he can even stay close to this list we may have our defensive player of the year.
Who’s For Real?
Brewer is for real. He’s been a great steals guy for years and is a perfect plug-and-play.
Who’s A Fraud?
Jordan is a fraud as the biggest surprise often is. He compiled five steals in one game. That won’t happen too frequently.
Who’s Missing?
Jennings should be on this list. He is a guy that can steal the ball with ease and sees enough minutes to do so.
Further Analysis:
As you see there are a ton of players tied with 2.0 steals-per-game. What this tells you is that there are most likely steal specialists available on your waive wire if needed.
3’s
1. Ryan Anderson, NO 4.5
2. Kyle Korver, ATL 4.3
3. Damian Lillard, POR 4.0
4. Ben McLemore, SAC 3.7
5. Kyrie Irving, CLE 3.5
6. Terrance Ross, TOR 3.3
7. Brandon Jennings, DET 3.3
8. Stephen Curry, GS 3.3
9. 3 tied Alexey Shved, Kevin Love, Klay Thompson 3.0
Biggest Surprise
McLemore is the name that stands out on this list. If he can continue playing well, he will be a very nice daily league play.
Who’s For Real?
Anderson is for real. If he can stay healthy, he is one of the best three point shooting big men in the league. He’s like a poor man’s Kevin Love.
Who’s A Fraud?
Shved is a fraud. The bottom-line is one game got him on this list. He’s not a great shooter, won’t see the minutes and isn’t healthy.
Who’s Missing?
Wesley Matthews should be frequenting this list this season. He’s a very good shooter and can put them in the bucket in bunches.
Further Analysis:
There are a lot of guards on this list. If you can go out and get a coveted big man that can hit 3’s, do not hesitate. They are invaluable.
