2013 Fantasy Football Daily Fix, December 24th: Week 17 WR Daily Fantasy Strategy
DraftKings Wide Receiver Recommendations
The boss, Alan Harrison, and I went in on a ticket for Millionaire Grand Final last week with a few of my other friends and turned $1,500 into $3,500. Sweet. Thank you Peyton Manning, Eric Decker and Pierre Garcon. We’re letting some of that money ride and playing in this week’s Sunday 200 Grand. The entry fee is $109. Take us on.
Below I discuss who I think the best QB/WR stacks are this week, and I mention a few WRs at varying price points that I would consider regardless of whether you also roster their quarterback.
DraftKings uses a PPR format.
Best QB/WR stacks
Kyle Orton ($5,000) and Dez Bryant ($8,100) – With Tony Romo sitting this one out, we’ve got a minimum priced QB going up against an Eagles team that has allowed the 6th most fantasy points to QBs and the third most passing yards. Orton is the only QB I have projected to cost less than $300 per point. Dez isn’t a particularly great value (projected for $410 per point), but he’s not a bad value either. When you pair them up, they project for a very reasonable $355 per point, and they have quite a bit of upside.
Jay Cutler ($6,800) and Brandon Marshall ($7,800) – I’m a little wary of picking a Chicago receiver simply because the guy you don’t pick could easily be the Bears receiver who has the big game. But when Cutler has been the QB, Marshall has gotten a few more looks and has certainly gotten more looks in and near the end zone. This matchup with the Packers is a good one as Green Bay is a bottom ten pass defense by almost any measure. It’s too tempting to pass up. Especially with Cutler priced as only the 15th most expensive QB.
Best Individual Plays
Jarrett Boykin ($3,400) – Assuming Aaron Rodgers plays, Boykin should be one of the better value plays of the week. Boykin really only played two full games with Rodgers this year. He didn’t become a big part of the offense until week seven, and Rodgers got hurt early in week nine. In those two games where they played together, Boykin had 13 catches, 192 yards, a touchdown and 24 standard fantasy points. This should be a rather high scoring game, so I think all the Green Bay receivers could have nice days with a healthy Rodgers. Boykin just happens to come at a very reasonable price.
Eric Decker ($6,600) – Assuming the Pats beat the Bills, the Broncos will have to win Sunday afternoon to maintain home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Welker is sitting out again, so Decker will be the #2 receiver against Oakland who allows the 5th most yards per pass attempt. Decker is a bit boom or bust, but that boom upside is exactly what you’re looking for in a daily fantasy tournament.
