2013 Fantasy Football: Week 15 Eliminator/Survivor Pool Picks
In one of the craziest/coldest weeks of the 2013 football season, these picks remained hot. Three straight weeks of going 3-0, even if the Pats win was about as lucky as one can get, a win is a win. Hopefully, that much luck won’t be needed with these picks:
SAFE PLAY: Panthers- Carolina got embarrassed on Sunday night and should be pissed off about it. If that isn’t incentive enough, the Saints are a game up on them in the NFC South and the Cardinals are hot on their tail for a wild card spot. At home this season, the Panthers are 5-1 and put up 27 points per game. As for their opponent, the Jets have lost three of their last four and are only 1-5 on the road. Both are superb at stopping the run as they rank first and second in the league respectively in rushing yards allowed (Panthers-79.4, Jets-82.6). So when it comes down to it, trusting Cam Newton (20:11 TD:INT ratio)over Geno Smith (9 :20) is the way to go.
GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY PLAY: Jaguars- ‘’Get them out of the way’’ should be interpreted very loosely in Week 15 but hopefully you get the point. The Jags have now won four of five. During their three game winning streak Maurice Jones-Drew has averaged 6.4 yards per carry (41 carries). Of course MJD is very much questionable with a hamstring injury and if he can’t go, Jordan Todman (138 rushing yards, 2 TDs on 43 carries in 2013) would get the start. The Bills lost their early 2013 season magic and have now lost five of six. The backbone of the offense in Buffalo, the running game, has been sporadic during their slide. C.J. Spiller’s last three rushing totals are as follows 22, 149 and 6 while Fred Jackson’s go 12, 42, and 34. Jacksonville is no goliath in stopping the run (allow 127 rushing yards per game for the season but only 86 rushing yards per game the last three weeks), but they are playing better as of late.
MY PLAY: Eagles- Plenty has been made about how hot Nick Foles has been since returning as the starter in Week 9 (14 TD passes, 1 INT). Less has been made about the NFL’s leading rusher, LeSean McCoy. McCoy leads the league with 1,305 rushing yards all of which have been outdoors. This week he gets the climate controlled Metrodome where the Vikings give up 148 rushing yards per game. Throw in the fact that Adrian Peterson isn’t expected to play and chances are the Eagles will be one step closer to a NFC East championship after Sunday.
Safe Play: 10-4
Out of the way Play: 9-5
My Play: 10-4
