Welcome to Wide Receiver Wednesday at the Daily Fix! Each Wednesday of the NFL regular season I’ll provide you with several receiving options that are strong plays that week at DraftKings. Monday through Friday the Fix writers will provide you with a Daily Fix that covers each position, with a weekly roundup on Friday.

The Wide Receiver position is loaded with options in this new, ever-prolific passing era of the NFL, so options abound. I’ll break it up into tiers, essentially, WR1’s, 2’s, 3’s and FLEX/deep options. Remember, this is a PPR format.

Your WR1 and WR2’s are no-brainer starts in your normal fantasy leagues. I’ll highlight them if they have an exceptional matchup or price. We’re likely going to find some inexpensive plays here week in a week out as well, due to the depth at the position. We’ll need to dig a little deeper as we’re entering bye weeks, but I hope to continue picking winners for you.

WR1

Dez Bryant – NO @ DAL ($7,900)

We haven’t had a ‘Dez Bryant Game’ yet this season, and there’s no better time than under the national spotlight of Sunday Night Football. Don’t get me wrong, Dez has been strong, but he’s capable of single-handedly winning you a week at times. I missed on the Saints last week, but I think they’re still explosive enough to make this a shootout. This type of game should supply Bryant with sufficient chances to make big plays and return above and beyond his investment.

Antonio Brown – TB @ PIT ($7,800)

Antonio Brown isn’t the best wide receiver in the game, but he’s in the team picture. His quickness in and out of routes is elite, and he’s electric with the ball in his hands. His skill-set blends well with his quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, who’s skilled at scrambling and buying more time when a play breaks outside of the pocket. The Buccaneers were unable to contain the Falcons top receiving option last week, and I see no reason why that’ll change this weekend in Pittsburgh.

WR2

Jeremy Maclin – PHI @ SF ($6,300)

I’m guessing that if Jeremy Maclin’s first half 80-yard screen pass that he took the house doesn’t get called back for an illegal block in the back, then Maclin is a $7,000+ player this week. We win! You just need to be smart enough to take advantage. Yes, this team as a plethora of options at its disposal, but none better than Maclin. This isn’t the same 49ers defense that we’ve gotten accustomed to over the past couple of seasons, so don’t be frightened by the matchup.

Kelvin Benjamin – CAR @ BAL ($5,800)

I had Kelvin Benjamin here last week, but he was nearly $1,000 cheaper. I’m not scared off by the spike in cost because last week’s performance was worth even more than this price. The less than spectacular Panthers receiving options are dwarfed by Benjamin, not only in size but also in ability. Cam Newton is making sure this big man eats, especially in the red zone. Benjamin is a threat to score each week.

Steve Smith Sr. – CAR @ BAL ($5,600)

Can you envision a scenario where Steve Smith gets less than 10 targets this week against his former team? I can’t. He’s been a force for three consecutive weeks, and I’m not betting on that streak to come to a halt against the Panthers. Despite what we saw on Sunday night against Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers, I still believe the way to attack this Carolina defense is through the air. So far Joe Flacco’s favorite Smith has been Steve, not Torrey, and that’ll continue on Sunday.

WR3 

Brandin Cooks – NO @ DAL ($5,300)

Yup, Brandin Cooks again. I don’t know what else to say about this kid. Marques Colston is in witness protection, and Drew Brees and the Saints will just keep chugging along with Cooks as the #1 option not named Graham. With the PPR scoring at DraftKings, I love Cooks at this price.

DeAndre Hopkins – BUF @ HOU ($4,800)

Could there be a changing of the guard in Houston? It’s a bit early to write off Andre Johnson in any way, but it’s hard to neglect the talent of DeAndre Hopkins. He’s route-running skills are top notch, and he’s a threat to beat you both underneath and deep. Buffalo has been stout early on against the run, but remains weak in the back end. Hopkins has either topped 100 yards receiving or caught a touchdown in each game so far in 2014; look for that to continue this week.

FLEX

Justin Hunter – TEN @ IND ($3,800)

This feels like a make or break week for Hunter. In both season-long and daily, Hunter has disappointed to date, but I’m encouraged by the consistent targets he’s receiving. The Colts are winning despite their lackluster secondary, which is susceptible to the deep ball, as they showed last week in Blake Bortles‘ debut in Jacksonville. If you’ve splurged elsewhere, Hunter is a nice last WR addition.

Kenny Stills – NO @ DAL ($3,500)

My podcast partner, Gerard Martin, mentioned Stills as an undervalued deep league play this week, and I agree. Stills is the kind of guy who’s only valuable if he can get deep; there’s probably no better team against which to get deep than the Cowboys. Mo Claiborne has likely been demoted and the safety play in Dallas has been awful. Last week Austin Davis just threw for 327 against them, and I expect Drew Brees to do at least that.
