2015 Fantasy Football: Week 13 Deep Sleepers
Everybody knows to start Adrian Peterson, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown. In this article we will be covering deep sleepers, guys that a lot of people may be able to find on their waiver wire. If you’re desperate for an emergency play or a cheap DFS option, this is where you find those guys. Just remember all these guys are longshots. Don’t bench your stars for them!
QB Matt Schaub, BAL
Yup, we went there. It’s the king of the pick-six himself, Matt Schaub. He did not disappoint last week as Karlos Dansby took one back for six as defenders so often do against Schaub. Still, the Ravens got the W and put up 33 on the score board. He put up a decent 232 passing yards and two TDs. Now we are in no way suggesting Schaub as anything more QB3 because of his downside. Nonetheless, there is some upside this week. The Ravens will take on the Miami Dolphins whose defense has been horrific lately. Over the past five weeks they have allowed 30 points per game, which is 29th in the league. With the Ravens’ atrocious secondary giving points away like candy on Halloween, Schaub will likely have to throw constantly to keep up. The Dolphins offense is not by any means dominant, but they’re much better than the Browns’ offense that scored 27 points on them last week. If you are desperate, surely Schaub is on the waiver wire.
RB Brandon Bolden, NE
Whenever I put my faith in Bolden he kicks me right in the groin. As a matter of fact, I opted for Bolden over Dion Lewis prior to Week 1. Well the joke is on you now, Lewis owners! Bolden is coming off a really nice week. He grabbed four catches and posted 95 yards from scrimmage with a touchdown. In all reality, any running back in New England can be a deep sleeper every week. You just never really know who Bill Belichick is going to deploy with on a week to week basis. LeGarrette Blount is the best as a pure runner and James White looks to be a solid pass-catcher. However, Bolden is the most versatile of the three backs. He has the size to run between the tackles and in the red zone but also has the hands to catch passes and make plays out of the backfield. He’s hit or miss. Nevertheless, he could be a very solid deep sleeper.
WR Rashad Greene, JAX
I’ve loved Greene since his days at Florida State. I believe him and Jamison Crowder were the most undervalued receivers in this year’s draft. The combine is enormously overvalued and allows excellent football players like this to become late-round steals in the draft. Greene had seven receptions Week 1 on 13 targets. The following week he went on injured reserve designated for return with a thumb injury and has been eased back in over the past two weeks. Last Sunday Allen Hurns was hospitalized with a concussion and is very doubtful for this week. This should force Greene to step up this week. The coaches have hinted that Marqise Lee could draw the start. However, he is unequivocally dreadful. When he’s not on the field being useless, he’s limping around on crutches. There is no reason to believe in Lee whatsoever. Greene could have an abundance of PPR value on Sunday. He is a quality receiver and should have knocked the rust of by Week 13.
TE Luke Wilson, SEA
Not much mystery here. Jimmy Graham’s season is over due to a torn ACL and Wilson is the next man up. He is far from a lock to have any production, but hd does come up with a big play or game occasionally. Last season he put up a 139-yard, two touchdown game against a harsh Arizona Cardinals defense. He could give you next to nothing this week and that’s why he’s a deep sleeper. With that said, four catches for 45 yards and a TD is not out of the question. If you’re desperate for a TE, you could pick him up and pray for the best.
