Thursday Night Football Preview: Titans at Jaguars
Thursday November 19, 2015
Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
And so it begins. It was only a matter of time until we got a Titans versus Jags game on Thursday Night Football. However, I’m less offended by having to watch the Jags this season. They are a team on the rise and have a ton of young talent. There is a lot of fantasy value in Jacksonville this year, too. The Titans though, they’re more awful than ever. They have next to no fantasy assets and are among the worst teams in football.
Tennessee Titans: Key Players
QB Marcus Mariota
Mariota has been solid for a rookie quarterback this season. He has a solid matchup this week against the Jags, who are allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Still, he has nothing to work with around him. His WRs and RBs may both be the worst in the league.
Verdict: Sit Mariota. Despite a nice matchup, he has very little help.
RB Antonio Andrews
Andrews could see the bulk of the carries for at least one more week. With that said, he has very little upside due to his plodding ways. It’s only a matter of time until David Cobb gets his shot at the starting job.
Verdict: Sit Andrews. At the end of the day, he’s not very good nor is the Titans’ rushing attack as a whole.
WR Dorial Green-Beckham
DGB is pretty much all they have left. It’s him and Harry Douglas. Kendall Wright has already been ruled out. Still, it’s hard to count on a raw rookie on a shortened week. Especially when he’s given you little reason to believe in him.
Verdict: Sit Green-Beckham. His upside is incredible but right now his downside is more prominent.
TE Delanie Walker
Walker is by far the best option in Tennessee. Not only is he the best player, he’s also pretty much the only option. Mariota loves his TEs and Walker is one of the better options in the league. He’s one of the most underappreciated players in the NFL.
Verdict: Start Walker. He’s pretty much a must-start every week. Walker is also a tremendous DFS option.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Key Players
QB Blake Bortles
Bortles has somewhat quietly developed into a fantasy QB1 caliber option. Being that the Titans have no cornerbacks left healthy on the roster, Bortles should have his way with him.
Verdict: Start Bortles. He’s is a fantastic option this week.
RB T.J. Yeldon
Yeldon is questionable and started off the week in a walking boot. However, he has since shed the boot and is expected to start this week. With that said, it’s important to note that few teams are allowing fewer fantasy points to opposing RBs than the Titans.
Verdict: Sit Yeldon. You may have to start him and he should see plenty of touches. Nevertheless, he has an injury and a bad matchup on a shortened week. Leave him on your bench if possible.
WR Allen Robinson
The Allens have been great this season. Robinson is the top dog in this WRs corps. Very slightly though. So far this season, he has 45 catches for 758 yards and seven TDs. He has developed into a top receiver as predicted.
Verdict: Start Robinson. He’s a great player with a great matchup.
WR Allen Hurns
The former Miami Hurricane has been right up there with Robinson. He’s really come into his own this year and has developed into an excellent wideout. Hurns has 41 receptions for 697 yards and seven TDs.
Verdict: Start Hurns. He’s fast talented and surprisingly versatile. Not only does he hit the big play, he is also seeing a high-volume of targets this season and is getting red zone looks.
