2013 Fantasy Hockey Daily Fantasy Sports Fix: Tuesday, December 31st

There are 11 games on the NHL slate today. However, only eight of them are included in Draft Kings’ main events today.
The best event to play today is the $11 (entry) $800 prize pool NHL Slapshot contest. I hope to see all of you there. Of course though, I always recommend multiple lineup combinations and bet hedging.

Let’s get started:

Games I Am Targeting:
New York Islanders @ Boston Bruins:
Starting Goalies: Evgeni Nabokov (probable), and Tuukka Rask (confirmed)
The Bruins are coming off a 4-3 road loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators, but they have had plenty of time to get over that. Boston is coming into this game 13-0-2 in their last 15 home games. They have not lost a game at home in regulation since October 26th! The Islanders come into this game off an impressive come-from-behind road win against the, always tough to play at home, Minnesota Wild. The Islanders started the season 3-12-0 on the road, but have since reeled off four wins in their past five away games. That streak should come to an abrupt halt tonight because they were unable to hold a morning skate due to the Boston Celtics game. If you want a recent reference of how not having a morning skate can affect a team, look no further than the Chicago Blackhawks 7-2 defeat of the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
Players I like most in this game:
Reilly Smith | Right Wing | $5,600: Confidence Level- A+
David Krejci | Center | $5,800: Confidence Level- A
Jarome Iginla | Right Wing | $6,000: Confidence Level- A+
Buffalo Sabres @ Winnipeg Jets:
Starting Goalies: Buffalo- Jhonas Enroth (confirmed) and Winnipeg– Al Montoya (confirmed)
The Sabres have won four straight home games – five straight if you only count games started by Ryan Miller – but have not won a road game since November 5th. Making matters worse is the fact that Enroth, who starts tonight, is just 1-7-3. The Sabres as a whole are playing better team defense, but it wasn’t evident against the Washington Capitals. In a 2-1 shootout win over the Capitals, Ryan Miller needed to make 49 saves (including six in overtime) to even get Buffalo out of regulation with a point. Toss in the fact that the Jets are 10-4-1 against the Eastern Conference, and this game becomes very attractive.
Blake Wheeler | Right Wing | $6,700: Confidence Level- A+
Evander Kane | Left Wing | $6,600: Confidence Level- A+
Bryan Little | Center | $4,600: Confidence Level- A
Dustin Byfuglien | Defense | $6,200: Confidence Level- A+
Andrew Ladd | Left Wing | $5,800: Confidence Level- A
Edmonton Oilers @ Phoenix Coyotes:
Starting Goalies: Edmonton- Ilya Bryzgalov (confirmed), and Phoenix- Mike Smith (probable)
The Oilers can be tricky to predict sometimes, but tonight Roman Horak will debut with Jordan Eberle and Sam Gagner on Edmonton’s second line. It should be a rough ride for the Oilers as they work out the kinks defensively with that unit. Gagner has one of the worst plus/minus ratings on the team, coming in at minus-15. Roll with the Coyotes tonight, but especially Radim Vrbata. Dating back to the beginning of 2009-2010, Vrbata has 18 points in 14 games against the Oilers, including five points in two games this year. He is my most confident pick tonight.
Radim Vrbata | Right Wing | $5,700: Confidence Level- A++
Mikkel Boedker | Left Wing | $3,700: Confidence Level- A+
Connor Murphy | Defense | $3,100: Confidence Level- B, Upside A-minus, Value- A+
Players I Am Using Tonight:
I have $218 poured out across 10 different lineups across 40 contests. I would be remiss if I did not include a list of some of the other players I am using tonight. I will note the number of lineups that player appears in, as well (which should give you all an idea of how confident I am about that player)

Radim Vrbata | Right Wing | $5,700 | Phoenix | Eight lineups
