Daily Fantasy Hockey: DraftKings Value Picks, December 26th
The Fix always has a full breakdown of significant NHL slates for our Front Office subscribers, but now we’re also going to be highlighting a few value plays for everyone on most days with big NHL slates. Below you’ll find three or four players who are cheap and undervalued in today’s DraftKings contests. Saturday night is another big night with eight evening games. Christmas is over so let’s go!
If you’d like to read our full breakdown of tonight’s slate, complete with player rankings, you can become a Front Office member or purchase today’s breakdown individually right here.
Alexander Wennberg – C – Columbus Blue Jackets – $3300
One of the few players that has thrived under John Tortorella is none other than Alexander Wennberg. What Wennberg has done is noteworthy of late. He has ten points in his last ten games but more importantly, he is seeing top six minutes now which is something the forward rarely saw under Todd Richards.
If his development keeps going like this, about the only thing he will need to work on is increasing his shots and chances that hit the net. If he continues to play with Brandon Saad and Scotty Hartnell then expect some very solid results tonight against a Tampa Bay team no one is really sure of.
Conor Sheary – LW – Pittsburgh Penguins – $2600
The Pittsburgh Penguins are just enjoying the chemistry that Sheary and Sidney Crosby have enjoyed in the last few games. Please note the fact that Sheary has been shifted to LW formally on DraftKings. It is significant actually given that Sheary is more comfortable there.
What has to be liked about Sheary’s play early on is that he is not afraid to shoot when the opportunity arises. When a player has 13 shots in four games, that is pretty solid. If he can keep that higher kind of floor then that should make it easier for him to reach value. He is a winger to watch tonight even on the road in Minnesota.
Connor Murphy – D – Arizona Coyotes – $2500
The defenseman is getting the benefit of being moved up to the top four and his bargain basement price is just too attractive to pass up. Consider that Murphy has met value in three of his last four games and could even see more power play time. His performance against Toronto showed a lot of potential as he was able to provide an elevated point floor.
Now Arizona plays Los Angeles on Saturday night and that is important because the Coyotes are a team that is not really afraid of the Kings. Murphy is the type of defenseman that can create a little bit and has a nice, hard shot. For the minimum price, a DFS player could do worse? Right?
Louis Domingue – G – Arizona Coyotes – $6100
There is no confirmation of the goalie at this time so we do advise to check back in on Twitter from time to time. However, the bottom line is that Domingue has stopped 70 of 74 shots since his call up from the AHL. While he remains dirt cheap on DraftKings, he has to be swooped up if Anders Lindback is not started on Saturday.
So what is Domingue starts Sunday instead? That is a great question. The suggestion may be to try Matt Murray of the Pittsburgh Penguins who is only a $100 more and tends to face a lot of rubber. Again, this is all about trying to find value. Either way, both choices should be good as the NHL gets back on the ice after three days off.
