The Fix always has a full breakdown of significant NHL slates for our Front Office subscribers, but now we’re also going to be highlighting a few value plays for everyone on most days with big NHL slates. Below you’ll find three or four players who are cheap and undervalued in today’s DraftKings contests. Thursday night, we missed on a few of these so let’s get right back at it.

Rickard Rakell – C – Anaheim Ducks – $3600
This is probably the player that should have been with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf for over a year but it is a good thing that he is now. Rakell is going to get into that $1000 per point category very soon if he keeps up his current production.
The center drives possession pretty well unlike some of the many other attempted pairings with Getzlaf/Perry, and Rakell can play wing or center which makes the lives of Getzlaf and Perry easier. His presence on the power play is slowly being tweaked upward as well and that only helps his cause further.
Tyler Kennedy – LW – New Jersey Devils – $2500
The New Jersey Devils scored five times on Thursday to make up for the one goal performance on Tuesday. I wish I was kidding but there may be some truth to that. Either way, with the injury to Travis Zajac, it allowed Kennedy to see some top six ice time for some shifts at even strength.
The winger/center can get under the skin of anyone, and if he is an effective pest, then that is a good pest. He also has a long history with the Philadelphia Flyers, which almost makes too much sense here. If you are severely desperate for salary relief and just need that one flier, Kennedy will be high risk but what is the worst that can happen.
Thomas Hickey – D – New York Islanders – $2700
The easy part would have been to insert the name of Shayne Gotlisbehere here at $3400 for the Philadelphia Flyers and simply be done with it. However, Hickey flies under the radar nicely as a third pairing defenseman who every so often sees a little power play time here and there.
Him and Calvin de Haan can often be interchanged here given the night if you want a secondary option from New York. However, Hickey is the type who can match well against the St. Louis bottom six forwards and bottom pairing defensemen.
Buffalo Goalie – $6400
The Buffalo Sabres get the benefit of facing a tired but not broken Arizona team which will mean they should see 25-30 shots on goal potentially and both of their goalies have fared pretty well even when the W’s have not been there. Whether Chad Johnson or Linus Ullmark starts, they are both ridiculously cheap. While other goalie situations are not set in stone, this may be the Keith Kinkaid like match-up of the night where even “stiff X” has a good shot at a win.
Buffalo should again be able to find enough opportunities offensively to hopefully keep shot totals from getting abundantly high like they were against Detroit. Without Robin Lehner, the Sabres have played a lot better than expected.
