Torrey Mitchell—RW—Montreal Canadiens–$3000
Mitchell has had a pretty decent start to the season, collecting ten points (5G, 5A) in 19 games while averaging just over twelve minutes a game. Alexander Semin will once again be a healthy scratch tonight for the Canadiens, opening the door once again for Mitchell to slide into that second line right wing position next to Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller. He’s averaging 2.2 FPPG and would only need one point in tonight’s game to hit his value. If you need a value play that has a high upside, Mitchell is your guy.
Frank Vatrano—LW—Boston Bruins—$3100
If you asked me two weeks ago who Frank Vatrano was, I would have had not a clue in the world. The rookie out of UMass hasn’t dominated the score sheet so far this season, totaling just one goal in five games played. But he’s playing on the second line with David Krejci and Loui Eriksson and is seeing just over 13 minutes of ice time a game. The Bruins have a decent matchup against the Wild tonight, making Vatrano an excellent bargain play if you need one. As long as he finds himself in the top six, he’s worth a look every time the Bruins play.
Shayne Gostisbehere—D—Philadelphia Flyers–$2700
The Flyers are a terrible team, which means on most nights, they will need to play come from behind hockey in order to win games. Gostisbehere has only played two games, but in those two games he’s totaled two points (1G,1A) and has averaged just over eighteen minutes a game. What makes him even more appealing in DFS is the fact that he’s seeing about three minutes of power play time per game on the top power play unit. At $2700, the 22-year-old is worth taking a risk on against a San Jose team that can give up goals. Roll him out there if you need a cheap defenseman with a high ceiling.
