Games to Target:
St. Louis Blues @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Ottawa Senators @ Florida Panthers
Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens
Dallas Stars @ Chicago Blackhawks
Spin:
Red = load up
Green = throw in a few players
Blue = Pick and choose
Blues @ Leafs:
The Blues are a great team, and the Maple Leafs are 1-6 in their past seven games. At this current point in time, the Toronto goaltender is unconfirmed. Jonathan Bernier has been suffering from a lower-body injury, and James Reimer has been suffering from goaltending ineptitude. Regardless of which goalie is between the pipes for the Leafs, I’m all over the Blues tonight. Alex Steen – TJ Oshie – David Backes is a very strong line stack, and they are my #1 stack of the night. Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk and Jay Bouwmeester are excellent targets as well. Jaden Schwartz is a great LW target too, and he’s just $9,500. Ryan Miller is a great start in net tonight too. Fade the Leafs though.
Senators @ Panthers:
I’m all over the Milan Michalek – Jason Spezza – Ales Hemsky line tonight against a Panthers team that just allowed the Corey Perry – Ryan Getzlaf line to run them over completely. I think this line is a lock for at least one if not two goals tonight. If you want to spend up for a defenseman, Erik Karlsson is the worth the price tonight as well. On the Panthers side, don’t sleep on Nick Bjugstad. He’s a nice GPP contrarian play. I don’t have the confidence though in Robin Lehner to play the way he needs to play, so I’m avoiding him. He is a reasonable GPP target though.
Sabres @ Canadiens:
It should be blatantly obvious that Carey Price is the number one play of the night at the goalie spot. The interesting thing for me with Montreal is whether the Canadiens third line is worth targeting. Brian Gionta has been playing well as of late, so I’m very intrigued by a Brian Gionta – Rene Bourque – Daniel Briere line stack. I’ll throw it in a GPP or two, but not get too crazy. Max Pacioretty is a shoe-in start tonight in your cash games, as is P.K. Subban.
Stars @ Blackhawks:
This game can be tricky because on one hand, Tim Thomas is horrendous, and on the other hand, the Blackhawks couldn’t score against the Nashville Predators the last time the Hawks played. I’m rolling out Duncan Keith tonight because he will be in for a huge minutes total since he will be shadowing Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn all night. I’m mostly fading the Hawks because of their price in my cash games, but I’ll be throwing them into a few GPP’s. The usual suspects for the Hawks are in play here as well, including Nick Leddy, who is just 5% of the Salary Cap for your team.
