2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Kendrys Morales Done For The Season…Again!
The Padres topped double digits in runs scored for the first time since the second game of the season. If you think that is poor production, I present you with the Oakland Athletics! This offensive juggernaut has not yet put up double digit runs and have only scored more than 7 runs one time this season!
Jason Heyward is day-to-day and says he no longer feels numbness, but will probably need more than a couple days off. Eric Hinske will fill-in for Heyward and he has played well this year in limited time. Probably worth a short-term addition to your roster.
More bad news on the injury front, though he probably was not projected as your number 1, Dallas Braden will need shoulder surgery to repair a “torn capsule” in his shoulder. I have no idea what the shoulder capsule is, but it sounds painful, and it sounds like he will not be coming back any-time soon. Fortunately, the A’s have an abundance of young pitcher and Tyson Ross has settled into the 5th starter role with a 2.51 ERA thus far this season.
The top pitchers, record wise, going tomorrow are Justin Masterson and Jaime Garcia. Masterson looks for his 6th win to join Trevor Cahill, Jered Weaver and Max Scherzer atop the American League win totals. While, Garcia looks to stay undefeated and join a group of pitchers, including Roy Halladay, with 5 wins atop the National League. Other notables throwing tomorrow, Derek Lowe, James Shields, Matt Cain and Ubaldo Jimenez, who apparently has not quite recovered from the mental and physical strain necessary to come back from an injured cuticle.
Apparently Bartolo Colon’s success can be contributed, at least impart, to stem cell therapy. The doctors took his own bone marrow and fatty tissue (does he have any other kind?), put it through a process which resulted in stem cells, which were injected into his shoulder. Who knew his bones still had marrow and weren’t just filled with gravy?
David Price and the Rays, halted the Indians 14-game home winning streak.
Stephen Strasburg is closing in on an opportunity to start throwing from the mound, fuelling speculation that he will be toeing the rubber in the big leagues sometime in September. Personally, I don't see it happening, why rush him? While I'm sure people will be tempted, there really is no need to add him to your roster.
Finally, will the hug heard round the world between Albert Pujols and Jim Hendry, be a foreshadowing of things to come or just two guys succumbing to the need share a little man love?…Stay tuned.
