Mariners 1B Mike Carp extended his hitting streak to 18 games Friday night going 1-3 with a walk in a 3-2 loss to the Rays. Carp also extended his on base safely streak to 27 consecutive games. Continues to be most added player in fantasy as of late.

Angels top prospect OF Mike Trout was recalled and got the start in RF on Friday. Trout went 1-4 but ended his night with his 2nd career HR in the 8th inning off Kevin Gregg.

Chicago Cubs 2B Darwin Barney has been hot of late and continued Friday going 2-4 with his 2nd HR of the season and improving his batting avg to a solid .296 in a 5-4 win over the Cardinals in extra innings. Barney is 13 for his last 27 and has a .481avg, an impressive .516obp, and has only struck out 3 times during his current tear.

During the 5-4 loss to the Cubs in extra innings Friday, Cardinals sluggers Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, and Lance Berkman went a combined 0-9 with 3 k’s dropping the Cardinals to 7.5 games behind the division leading Brewers.

Boston Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez went 3-4 with an rbi to boost his league leading batting average up to .346

Red Sox C prospect Ryan Lavarnway collected his 1st ML hit in Bostons 7-1 victory over the Royals.

Peter Bourjos continued his hot hitting in the last week by going 3-5 with 2r and 2rbi. Bourjos also hit his 6th hr of the year and stole his 17th base in the 8-3 victory. Over his last 6 games, Bourjos is hitting at a .478 clip with 5runs, 3rbi, and 2 steals in that span.

Coming an off an injury that had sidelined him for a huge chunk of the season, Shin-Soo Choo has put together a modest 4 game hit streak after going 1-3 with a steal on Friday. Although its a short sample, Choo has hit .269 with 4runs, 2rbi, and 1steal since his return from the DL and could be a solid down the stretch for the tribe.

Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland, Angels OF Torii Hunter, and Yankees C Russell Martin each hit 2 HRS for their respective teams Friday. Moreland and Hunter had 5 rbis each, while Martin had 3 rbis. All 3 of their teams won their games as Moreland helped the Rangers fight off the White Sox, Hunter helped the Angels defeat the Orioles 8-3, and Martin helped the Yankees cruise 8-1 over the Twins.

After a drawn out rain delayed game, The Nationals, who went into their home half of the 9th inning down 4-2 tied the ball game at 4 before Ryan Zimmerman hit his walk off grand slam that sent the fans home happy. The homerun was Zimmermans 9th of the season.

In what turned out to be a pitchers dual, Wade Davis and Felix Hernandez battled it out in Tampa Friday. Davis had what could be one of his best starts of the season, going 7 strong innings, giving up 1ER, and striking out 8 in a no decision. King Felix pitched a complete game loss for the Mariners going 8 innings, while giving up 3ER and striking out 9. Taking a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 8th, Felix ran into some trouble and the Rays rallied to score the eventual game winning runs.

Jose Valverde remained perfect in save chances this year, notching his 36th save in a 4-1 victory over the Indians.

A’s SP Rich Harden looked picturesque Friday in a 2-0 win over the Blue Jays, going 7 dominating innings while allowing only 2 hits with 0ER and tying a career-high in strikeouts with 11. This definately shows Harden still has gas in the tank, but his next start vs. the hot hitting Yankees might bring him back down to earth.

Shaun Marcum looked strong in a 6-1 victory over the Mets. Marcum pitched 7 innings, giving up only 1 ER and striking out 3 in his 11th victory of the season.

Phil Hughes continued his resurgence of late by pitching 7.2 innings, giving up 2 hits, and 1ER vs. the Twins to win his 4th game of the year. His only blemish, was a 1st inning HR to the 2nd batter he faced, Trevor Plouffe.

Wandy Rodriguez looked impressive Friday vs. the Giants pitching 8 shutout innings while striking out 8 in a 6-0 win. Ryan Vogelsong who went 7 innings for the Giants gave up only 2ER and struck out 3 in his 3rd loss of the season.

UGLY stat of the Night–Ryan Madson ( 0.2 IP, 6ER, 1BB, 1K, L,BS)

MASH UNIT–Phil Humber to the DL with a facial contusion/ Jason Kipnis to the DL with a hamstring injury/ Mike Stanton (bruised toe) was scratched from his start but got a late inning AB, doesnt seem serious/ Jose Reyes being ready to come off DL when eligible is highly unlikely, Manager Collins calls it a “stretch”/ Nationals top prospect Bryce Harper is likely done for the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

Todays matchup to watch: Cubs/Cardinals (Edwin Jackson (9-8, 4.04ERA) vs. Matt Garza (5-9, 3.80ERA) This rivalry always seems to setup good games no matter how bad either team is playing.
