2011 Fantasy Baseball, Week 14 Waiver Wire: Josh Reddick Keeps Hitting in Boston

Welcome to Week 14 of Wired & Baked. Jesse is taking the week off, so I will be filling in and hopefully matching or exceeding the amazing job he does every week. In week 13 he was spot on about Eric Thames and Jason Vargas. I actually kept Thames in this week too, because he has been a real offensive spark for the Jays and he is still owned at only 5%!

As usual below are 5 players owned in 50% or less of Yahoo Leagues and also a special AL-only & NL-only pick at the end. Good luck and happy 4th of July!

Seth Smith (41%) – I'm sorry, there is no reason in the world that Seth Smith should be owned under 50%. Yes it is true that he can't hit lefties for the life of him (.195 career) but he sure can hit righties (.295 & 41 HR in 379 games). Just keep him away from lefties and reap the rewards.

Logan Morrison (48%) – Logan saw his ownership drop after an injury in late April. Since returning he's seen his average drop all the way down to .265. He's hit a few home runs in the past few days and I believe that he will be much closer to .285-.300 by season's end.

Daniel Murphy (38%) – First and foremost, Murphy is eligible for 4 positions. On top of that he is batting .298 on the year and just had his second 8-game hitting streak of the season. He may not hit you home runs, but the average, runs and RBI’s are all there.

Eric Thames (5%) – Thames made our list last week and looks to be fitting in quite well in Toronto. He hit his 3rd homer in the last 5 games and is batting .329 so far. This guy was brought up to make a spark for Toronto…how about he does it for your team too?

Mark Ellis (4%) – Playing for the Rockies is like fantasy gold. In Ellis' first 3 games he is 8-15 with 5 runs and 7 RBI. I think going to Colorado is the nice boost he needs after playing on that stagnant A's offense for so long.

NL only: Darwin Barney (31%) – If you’re looking for a young guy with talent to boost up your average, Barney may be your man. Since returning from the DL 4 games ago, two of them were multi-hit games.

AL only: Josh Reddick (3%) – Filling in for Carl Crawford is no easy task but Reddick is sure making it look easy. He has 5 multi-hit games in the 12 he’s played since being recalled. With Mike Cameron being designated for assignment Reddick may be able to stay up with the team even after Crawford returns. Keep a close eye but so far so good!
