2015 Fantasy Football DFS: Week 6 Quarterbacks

Last week was hands down the best week for me so far this season, and I sure hope you guys were able to cash out as well. However, had the Giants lost to the 49ers this past weekend when I was there at the game, I’m not sure if I would still be around to write this post; that would have just been embarrassing. Nonetheless, I’m here to give you my take on some of the best quarterback plays for the weekend! Lets get to it!

Tier 1 – Elite

Tom Brady, New England Patriots, $8,100 – I think it’s extremely possible that for the rest of the season you will see the same two names in this group, Brady and Aaron Rodgers. They’re the two best quarterbacks in football right now, and I doubt we’re ever going to see their prices fall enough where they would be ranked in a different tier. Brady and the Patriots are taking on the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night, the first meeting between the two teams since the deflate gate scandal last season. The Colts defense is currently ranked 21st against opposing quarterbacks this year, and let’s not forget that they just let Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallet combine for 362 passing yards against them, along with a couple of TDs. This will be a popular pick for the weekend and as always, expect Brady to do big things and be worth every penny he costs.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, $7,700 – The best quarterback in football going against a San Diego Chargers’ defense that is on short rest. Hm… seems like an easy decision. Rodgers wasn’t dominant last week (though he still managed 24 points), so it’s easy to believe that he will come out firing against the Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers defense has been great against opposing team’s top receivers, so you might want to lean towards James Jones over Randall Cobb if you’re looking to stack Rodgers with a wide out. The Packers should have plenty of scoring opportunities, making Rodgers an easy and popular pick.

Tier 2 – Value

Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals, $6,600 – The Arizona Cardinals are proving to be one of the best teams in football this year, and they have Carson Palmer to thank for a lot of that (along with a stellar defense). Palmer gets to go against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, who are typically a team I like to stack against given their week secondary. The Steelers rank 19th against opposing QBs and allow close to 300 passing yards per game. Palmer got yanked from the last game because of the team’s big lead, but was still able to throw for three touchdowns and close to 200 yards. With the way Palmer and the Cards have been playing, it’s hard not to jump all over Palmer this weekend.

Sam Bradford, Philadelphia Eagles, $6,000 – With the way the Giants’ injured reservelist is looking right now, I might be starting for the team on Monday night! Over the past two weeks Bradford has thrown for over 600 yards with five touchdowns, making him a nice play given his price at just $6,000. The Giants defense is bad enough against opposing QBs as it is, ranking 25th and allowing a league high 304 passing yards per game. With the secondary banged up, Bradford seems like a must play against the division rivals.

Tier 3 – Contrarian

Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins, $5,700 – This will be the Dolphins’ first game since firing head coach Joe Philbin, so there should be some kind of a new life for a team that has underperformed thus far this season. Priced at $5,700, Tannehill seems like a safe play against a subpar Tennessee Titans defense. Many predicted this as the year that Tannehill takes that next big step, and though he hasn’t done it yet, this week will be the week for him to prove the doubters wrong. I really like a Tannehill/Landry stack this weekend if you’re up for it.

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears, $5,200 – Ugh. Jay Cutler. I’m not going to lie, I am not a fan of Cutler in the slightest (like most people). HOWEVER, since returning from his injury, Cutler has thrown over 40 times in each of the last two games, throwing for four touchdowns against one interceptio, with 533 passing yards. Not bad for a guy who only costs $5,200, eh? Not to mention he is going up against a Lions defense that has given up the third most yards per pass attempt. If Alshon Jeffrey plays this weekend, Cutler becomes a serious consideration.
