2013 Fantasy BaseballFantasy BaseballTeam Fix

2013 Fantasy Baseball, The Daily Fix: September 10th, 2013

The fantasy playoffs officially began yesterday for most people playing full season leagues. That means many of our seasons were effectively over. I do have to compliment one of the commissioners I have a privilege to play with. He set up the league years ago to require players to win the consolation bracket to get the first overall pick in the next year’s draft. It was a brilliant idea because it keeps people like me (I finished 10 of 12) involved over the last three weeks. Otherwise, I would have phoned it in faster than you can say NFL Sunday Ticket.

Others among you are definitely tempted to pack it in and call a season. I feel your pain. I’m involved in three leagues and two of them went the way of the dinosaur. Fortunately though, I still have a few weeks of daily fantasy baseball to whet my appetite before we crawl under our collective rocks for the winter. I’m one of the few lost souls that prefer fantasy baseball to fantasy football. I enjoy football as much as any red-blooded American, but baseball has always been my first love and it always will be that way. So, I keep pulling the lever for another day of daily fantasy baseball.

Today, I’m playing in a Double Up! contest again. They range anywhere from a dollar to over 100 dollars, but each works the same way. If you finish in the top half you get almost twice as much as you put in. Naturally, DraftKings gets their cut because they have to pay their employees, the light bill, and make a little for their trouble. That being said, they are very generous to those that start playing as they will give you a deposit bonus you can access here.

My Lineup

Salary

FPPG

Notes
C

Yadier Molina

3,700

7.53

He might be the best all-around catcher in baseball and he’s going for less than 4000.
1B

Eric Hosmer

3,400

7.93

I’ve used him a lot because he’s been a beast in the second half.
2B

Kyle Seager

4,200

7.93

He just might be the most underappreciated player in the game.
3B

Evan Longoria

3,800

8.22

It’s hard to believe he is still going for less than 4000.
SS

Ian Desmond

3,800

8.18

He may not be the very best shortstop, but he’s pretty darn close.
OF

Shane Victorino

3,500

8.93

He has been really good since coming off of the disabled list.
OF

Jayson Werth

3,700

8.86

He embodies the Nationals. He’s brilliant when he’s healthy.
OF

Alfonso Soriano

4,600

8.54

No one would have dreamed he’d reach 30/100 before the trade to the Yankees.
P

David Price

9,000

18.31

He has been much better since he came off the disabled list.
P

Julio Teheran

9,500

18.13

He’s facing the Marlins. This just seems all too easy.
