In this article we will be going over the top 10 players in each major statistical category (excluding percentages). We will list and review each category to give you the best analysis for your fantasy basketball league. Here is verything you need to know about the hottest players of the week.

Points
1. Kobe Bryant, LAL 33.5
2. Klay Thompson, GS 29.7
3. DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 27.0
4. Kevin Martin, MIN 26.7
5. Stephen Curry, GS 26.7
6. James Harden, HOU 26.5
7. Tony Wroten, PHI 24.8
8. Al Jefferson, CHA 24.4
9. DeMar DeRozan, TOR 24.0
10. Chris Bosh, MIA 23.8

Biggest Surprise
Wroten has exploded in this young season. He is pouring in the points and his owners are reaping the benefits.

Who’s For Real?
The Miami Heat now run through Bosh. It would not be shocking to see him an MVP candidate at the seasons end.

Who’s A Fraud?
Martin just isn’t consistent enough to keep putting up numbers like these. He lacks consistency and the loss of Ricky Rubio could hurt him.

Who’s Missing?
It’s obviously LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Both are working with a new offense, expect them a top this list sooner than later.

Further Analysis:
It’s hard not to be shocked to see Kobe on top of this list, then again how could you be surprised? There are a lot of familiar faces this week. Cousins is another guy that will be hovering around the top of the points list often this season. He is emerging as one of the league’s elite players.

Assists
1. Ricky Rubio, MIN 11.7
2. Chris Paul, LAC 11.7
3. Rajon Rondo, BOS 11.0
4. Jeff Teague, ATL 9.3
5. Reggie Jackson, OKC 9.0
6. Ty Lawson, DEN 8.7
7. John Wall, WAS 8.5
8. Stephen Curry, GS 7.7
9. LeBron James, CLE 7.3
10. Tony Wroten, PHI 7.3

Biggest Surprise
For all the chatter about Jackson being selfish and being a ball hog, 9.0 assists-per-game isn’t too shabby.

Who’s For Real?
You are going to find King James on this list often this season, he has no choice. It’s a pretty safe bet Kyrie Irving won’t be frequenting this list any time soon.

Who’s A Fraud?
All these guys are pretty legit, although Jackson will fall off this list as the Thunder get healthy.

Who’s Missing?
Mike Conley just missed the cut. Expect to see him in the top 10 more often than not this season.

Further Analysis:
It is shocking seeing how much Wroten has progressed this season. He has been a very nice surprise for fantasy owners and Sixers fans alike.

Rebounds
1. Tim Duncan, SA 13.0
2. DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 12.8
3. Dwight Howard, HOU 12.0
4. Greg Monroe, DET 12.0
5. Anthony Davis, NO 12.0
6. Andrew Bogut, GS 12.0
7. Pau Gasol, CHI 11.3
8. Tobias Harris, ORL 10.5
9. Andre Drummond, DET 10.3
10. 4 tied Lance Stephenson, Jordan Hill, Chris Bosh, Joakim Noah 10.0

Biggest Surprise
If you look at this list Stephenson is the obvious choice. Its 12 big guys and Stephenson.

Who’s For Real?
Monroe may be for real. Nobody knew what his role was going to be this year so he slipped in most drafts. We knew what he was capable of. If he keeps getting the opportunity, this could become the norm.

Who’s A Fraud?
Obviously Stephenson. He’s just not big enough to average double-digit rebounds.

Who’s Missing?
DeAndre Jordan led the league in boards last season. Expect him to bounce back quickly. The Clippers as a whole have been bad, they’ll get it together soon.

Further Analysis:
Much like Kobe, it’s amazing seeing Duncan in the No. 1 spot. If only you could depend on him playing all the time. Few players are more frustrating than Duncan thanks to all his random rest days.

Blocks
1. Tim Duncan, SA 6.0
2. Roy Hibbert, IND 4.3
3. Jordan Hill, LAL 3.0
4. JaVale McGee, DEN 2.8
5. Tyson Chandler, DAL 2.5
6. Pau Gasol, CHI 2.3
7. Anthony Davis, NO 2.3
8. Rudy Gobert, UTA 2.3
9. six tied Brook Lopez, Dwight Howard, Andre Drummond, Alex Len, DeAndre Jordan, Larry Sanders 2.0

Biggest Surprise
Gobert and Len have to be the biggest surprises. Simply because neither averaged over 18 minutes-per-game. The most surprising thing may be that Davis isn’t higher.

Who’s For Real?
McGee is for real when it comes to blocks. He has kind of gone forgotten about by many. He was always a great athlete with excellent shot blocking ability. Could be a breakout player if he could develop the rest of his game.

Who’s A Fraud?
Gasol won’t be on this list all too often. He doesn’t need to be. The Bulls have better rim protectors. Leave that kind of thing for your tough guys.

Who’s Missing?
It is always shocking when you don’t see Serge Ibaka on a blocks list. He’s the best in the game and the Thunder will need his defense if they want to be competitive while they get healthy.

Further Analysis:
Here’s a little fun fact. The first person cut from this list was James Harden.

Steals
1. Chris Paul, LAC 3.3
2. Tim Duncan, SA 3.0
3. Tony Wroten, PHI 3.0
4. Paul Millsap, ATL 2.7
5. John Wall, WAS 2.7
6. Kawhi Leonard, SA 2.5
7. Nerlens Noel, PHI 2.3
8. eight tied Tony Allen, Jamal Crawford, Brandon Knight, Kyle Anderson, Stephen Curry, Elfrid Payton, Garrett Temple, Derrick Rose 2.0

Biggest Surprise
Duncan being at No. 2 was a bit of a shock. He’s great, but look at these lists. He’s near the top in a ton of them.

Who’s For Real?
Allen is going to be on this list a lot. He is an elite defender that is getting more minutes than usual. He’s a specialist but a good one at that.

Who’s A Fraud?
Anderson just isn’t going to see the minutes to stay relevant.

Who’s Missing?
You’re going to see Mario Chalmers on this list a lot this season. He is one of the best in the league at stealing the ball and forcing turnovers.

Further Analysis:
You tend to see a lot of the same guys on the steals list pretty consistently. Players that get a lot of steals take a lot of pride in it.

3-pointers
1. Patrick Beverley, HOU 4.0
2. Kevin Martin, MIN 3.7
3. Klay Thompson, GS 3.7
4. Courtney Lee, MEM 3.5
5. Trevor Ariza, HOU 3.3
6. Chris Copeland, IND 3.3
7. Shawne Williams, MIA 3.0
8. five tied Dirk Nowitzki, Serge Ibaka, Jeff Green, Iman Shumpert, Mirza Teletovic 2.8

Biggest Surprise
It was surprising to see Williams on here. That may be in part due to me just trying to adjust to the new look Heat. It’s surprising just to see him getting so many minutes.

Who’s For Real?
Copeland is going to continue to get playing time and he is very capable of hitting the long ball. Look for him to keep it up on a battered Pacers squad.

Who’s A Fraud?
Ibaka needs to stop launching 3s and stay in the paint where he belongs. He’s only shooting 3s like this because OKC is desperate for offense. It won’t last long.

Who’s Missing?
Curry is obviously the guy who stands out for not being on this list. He’s probably the best three-point shooter in the league. He’ll not only be on this list often, he’ll be at the top of this list often. Kyle Korver also gets an honorable mention.

Further Analysis:
This stat is one of the least consistent. Players get hot and cold more often with 3s than any other stat.

Should I drop Iguodala for Lamb?

  2. November 10, 2014 at 1:45 pm

It depends what you’re looking for. I think he’ll definitely be better for points short-term, but he won’t have the defensive stats of Iguodala.
