2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Boston Red Sox Match Worst Start in Team History
Hit Tracker claims that Justin Upton’s bomb on 4/12 off Chris Carpenter at Chase Field (
True Distance of 473 feet) is the farthest home run hit thus far in 2011. Conversely, Sam Fuld has the shortest round tripper of 2011, just 323 feet off Daisuke Matsuzaka on 4/11 at Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox and first basemen Adrian Gonzalez agreed to a new seven-year, $154 million contract extension. The $154 million contract is the ninth-biggest in MLB history.
Staying on the subject of the Red Sox, they came into the season with the 3rd highest payroll and are now 2-10, best for the worst record in baseball. With one more loss, it will be the worst start in Beantown's history.
Brandon Phillips sat out Friday's game with a groin injury. If Phillips were to hit the DL, fantasy baseball owners should look to replace the league leader in runs scored with Wilson Valdez (7% Y!) or Angel Sanchez (45% Y!).
Phil Hughes, his 13.94 ERA and his three lonely strikeouts will make their way to the 15-day DL with a "dead arm".
Kyle Farnsworth (3), Jordan Walden (2), Brian Wilson (3), Heath Bell (3), Neftali Feliz (5), Joakim Soria (4), Leo Nunez (5), Jon Rauch (3) each earned saves Friday night.
Roy Oswalt hurt the middle of his back after pitching six strong innings. Keep an eye on his progress the next few days.
Albert Pujols homered for the second day in a row, but this time with two home runs against the Dodgers en route to an 11-2 blowout. Lance Berkman decided to join in the fun as well and hit two home runs, his second game so far with two. Berkman now has six home runs in the past five games and seems to be thriving in his new home.
Jhoulys Chacin put out his strongest performance of the year throwing a compete game shutout, six hitter. Chacin is now 3-0 and has the ability to one day be a top ten pitcher… maybe 2011?
Speaking of Aces, the #1 fantasy player, Jered Weaver, pumped out his 4th win over the White Sox. Weaver has a 1.30 ERA, .80 WHIP, leads the league with 31 Ks and is holding batters to a .137 batting average.
Colorado Manager Jim Tracy has pushed back Ubaldo Jiminez’s return until Tuesday.
Sophomore Logan Morrison continues his hot streak, hitting his 4th home run against the Phils.
