2011 Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings Week 2: Big Day For Tight Ends In New England?
2) JERMICHAEL FINLEY (@CAR #28th ranked D)- Finley is listed on the injury report again this week with a lingering ankle issue. He should be good to go and if so he should have a big day against a Panther defense that let the Cardinals TE’s have their way last Sunday.
3) JASON WITTEN (@SF #5 ranked D)- Witten lead the Cowboys in targets, receptions and receiving yards in week one against the Jets. He is as sure handed as the come and will continue to flourish in the Cowboys offense this week in SF.
4) BRANDON PETTIGREW (KC #29th ranked D)- Kansas City had big trouble last week covering the Bills big TE Scott Chandler and I can see another long day for the Chiefs dealing with Matt Stafford and company. Pettigrew dropped a TD last week and will be a weekly contributor in the high octane Lion offense.
5) VERNON DAVIS (DAL # 27th ranked D)- Davis is Alex Smith’s safety valve as he lead the team in receptions and yards receiving in week 1. Davis will face a Dallas defense that only allowed five TD’s to opposing TE’s last year but they have a very banged up secondary right now so I am thinking Davis may thrive on Sunday.
6) JIMMY GRAHAM (CHI # 16th ranked D)- I absolutely love Graham in this offense and as long as the Saints WR core stays limited (Colston out 4-6 weeks and Moore groin ) he should remain very active. He went for 4 catches, 56 yards and a TD in week one.
7) OWEN DANIELS (@MIA # 31st ranked D)- Daniels did absolutely nothing in Week 1’s blowout win over the Colts. After seeing what the Patriots TE’s did to Miami Monday night though Daniel’s becomes a no brainer this week as a solid start.
8) AARON HERNANDEZ (SD #1 ranked D)- Hernandez went off in Week 1 with a seven catch, 103 yards receiving one TD performance. I would rank him higher if we could predict the Pat’s weekly game plan philosophy and Rob Gronkowski being removed from the picture. Roll with Hernandez for now but realize there will be some clunker games thrown in there from time to time.
9) ROB GRONKOWSKI (SD # 1 ranked D)- Rob, who scored a TD in Week 1 came up just short of teammate Aaron Hernandez in overall numbers. Gronkowski is also a victim of the Belichick game plan and will put some pretty good numbers up for you most of the time. He is much more valuable in TD leagues and do not expect another game with 86 yards for quite awhile.
10) KELLEN WINSLOW (@MINN #19 ranked D)- Winslow had eight targets and 66 yards in week one against the Lions. Kellen is the number two option in Josh Freeman’s arsenal and should continue to see plenty of looks.
11) GREG OLSEN (GBAY # 20 ranked D)- Olsen had a four catch 78 yard performance in week 1. If the Packers get up early in this game we will see the Panthers go awan and throw often therefore making Olsen a solid play this week.
12) SCOTT CHANDLER (OAK # 6 ranked D)- The Bill’s have found a new weapon as the got the 6’7″ 263 lb man giant involved in the offense. Chandler had two TD’s last week and I think the Bill’s will continue to use him to create mismatches on opposing defenses. Going on gut feeling here but I think he scores again this week.
BEST OF THE REST :
13) DUSTIN KELLER
14) FRED DAVIS
15) DALLAS CLARK
16) TONY GONZALEZ
17) ED DICKSON
18) JERMAINE GRESHAM
19) JARED COOK
20) TODD HEAP
21) LANCE KENDRICKS
22) EVAN MOORE
23) ZACH MILLER
24) MARCEDES LEWIS
