2012 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Adam Jones Continues To Ascend, Trevor Bauer Promoted
On this day in 2008, David Wells of the New York Yankees retired 27 consecutive batters for a perfect game against the Minnesota Twins.
Yu Darvish surrendered just one run on four hits and two walks, while striking out seven, en route to his 6th win of this young season.
Albert Pujols blasted his second long ball on the season in a 1-for-4 effort on Wednesday. Don’t look now, but the struggling first basemen is now hitting .310 over his last eight games.
Down on the farm:
Two of baseball’s top prospects face off tonight in the Double-A Southern League as Trevor Bauer (7-1, 1.68 ERA) of the Mobile Bay Bears versus Danny Hultzen (3-3, 1.91 ERA) of the Jackson Generals.
EDIT: The previous matchup will no longer occur because Trevor Bauer has been promoted to the Triple-A Reno Aces of the Pacific Coast League.
Billy Hamilton of the Advanced-A Bakersfield Blaze in the California Leagues was 0-for-2 last night, but managed to get on base with two walks that led to three stolen bases. Hamilton now has 38 stolen bags on the season.
The Kansas City Royals have promoted Wil Myers of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the Double-A Southern Texas League to the Omaha Storm Chasers of the Pacific Coast League. Myers led the Texas League in batting average (.343), extra base hits (25), runs scored (32) and was second in home runs with 13.

Gio Gonzalez continues to impress in the nation’s capital, with a ten strikeout effort for his fifth win of the season. Gonzalez now sports an impressive 2.22 ERA with a 0.99 ERA.
Brett Lawrie has been suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for his actions during an argument with umpire Bill Miller on Tuesday. Lawrie will appeal the suspension making him eligible to remain in the Blue Jays lineup until the appeal is heard. However, fantasy baseball owners should plan on losing the fiery third basemen for a few games sooner than later.
Will Rhymes of the Tampa Bay Rays was plunked in the arm by the Boston Red Sox’ Franklin Morales. After taking first base, Rhymes began to feel dizzy and fainted on the field. When asked by the paramedics, Rhymes told them he was Batman! X-rays were negative for both his arm and super powers.
Pitching duels I’m looking forward to today: Ricky Nolasco (Fla) vs. Brandon Beachy (Atl), James McDonald (Pit) vs. Jordan Zimmerman (Was) and Adam Wainwright (Stl) vs. Matt Cain (SFG)
Dale Thayer (5), Henry Rodriguez (9), Sean Marshall (7), Fernando Rodney (12), Joe Nathan (8), Jim Johnson (13) and Jason Motte (7) each earned handshakes last night.
