2012 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Car-Go keeps go, go, going
Roy Halladay and Jered Weaver went on the DL earlier this week, Matt Kemp and Troy Tulowitzki joined him on Thursday, and Dustin Pedroia looks to be next. It’s been a rough season for some of the game’s top stars.
Healthy hitters prospered on Thursday when offense dominated pitching. Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs while teammate Michael Cuddyer went 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Even Jordan Pacheco had two hits for the Rockies.
Jose Altuve and Jed Lowrie had three hits a piece for Houston. The middle of the order did some damage for Detroit as Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera each had two hits and at least one RBI and run while Delmon Young had three hits with two RBIs and a run. Jared Saltalamacchia had two hits, two RBIs and a homer for Boston. Aramis Ramirez had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs for the Brewers.
As you can guess on a night with only three games, that led to some rough pitching lines. Zack Greinke had the best start with one earned run, but he lasted only six innings and gave up nine hits. Chad Billingsley gave up four runs in six innings. Jeremy Guthrie got a win, but gave up five earned runs while Bud Norris gave up seven in less than two innings.
A couple shortstops look like nice pick-ups although Will Middlebrooks of Boston is gone in most leagues. Pedroia's injury makes it look like Mike Aviles will move to second base and Middlebrooks will become the regular shortstop for the Red Sox. Andrelton Simmons of the Braves has been called up to make his debut on Friday and while he's known mostly for his glove, he has hit well in the minors for two years and is worth an add if you have a roster spot.
Looking ahead to Friday in daily fantasy leagues, it is a great day for a Yankees stack as New York faces Detroit's Casey Crosby in his major-league debut. Speaking of daily leagues, check out the new look at Daily Joust on dailyjoust.com. The site updated its content to help identify starters in each game while also making it easier to figure out which game you want to play. No doubt, Daily Joust is at the top of the list for daily fantasy games.
