2012 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, September 28, 2012: Last Minute Streamers
Not a lot left to do to try and win your league, but if you are in a tight battle at the top, a couple of guys may be available for a last-week rally. In particular, if you have guys hurt or out for the rest of the year, there are players available to replace them who can make the difference in a close race.
Kevin Frandsen had two hits for Philadelphia and should play the rest of the way while Andrelton Simmons may have been dumped in your league when he missed a month due to injury, and he had two hits with a run and an RBI for the Braves. Miami’s Gil Velazquez had a couple hits and is available. Marco Scutaro continue his hot hitting with a homer and Brandon Belt had two hits for San Francisco.
Jordan Pacheco is likely available and he had two hit with a homer while Chris Nelson also had two hits for Colorado. Luis Valbuena has been hitting for the Cubs and had a couple hits while L.A.’s Luis Cruz is another third base option who had three hits last night. Even Nick Punto had two hits for the Dodgers while shortstop Jordy Mercer had two hits for the Pirates.
John Jaso had two hits, including a homer, for Seattle.
So there are plenty of bats available if you have holes to fill for the final week. In terms of pitchers, almost everyone is set to make their final start of the year so look for guys to stream when available. Colorado's Jeff Francis, Andrew Werner of San Diego, and David Huff of Cleveland are all options today. In daily fantasy leagues, I love the Orioles today against Aaron Cook, especially riding the hot streak of Chris Davis.
For those paying more attention to football these days, you are realizing that Joe Flacco has become a top-10 quarterback. He is doing it every week and no reason to expect a change.
Torrey Smith was great again and will have some no-shows, but his big games make up for it. Bad night for Ray Rice and Dennis Pitta. Trent Richardson struggled to run the ball, but his ability to catch the ball and get in the end zone makes him an RB2 every week in fantasy.
