2012 Fantasy Baseball Draft Day Sleeper: Twins Justin Morneau
Justin currently ranks as the 175th player taken in mixed leagues as well as the 17-20th first baseman off the board, meaning here is a player with .300/25/100 potential sitting there 17 rounds into your draft. Being drafted in that position leaves little to risk and certainly all to gain. His career numbers show from 2005-2009 when he played complete seasons he averaged .292/26/100 putting him in the top 10 at first base during that time span. Target Field will definitely effect his numbers a bit but a .280/25/90 year is not out the question for the former all-star first baseman providing he can remain healthy.
The Canadian star has been cleared to play in the spring training opener and is raring to put his past two seasons behind him and become the all-star he once was. Keep an eye on his spring training to make sure he is healthy and not experiencing any of the post concussion symptoms that have plagued him since the injury in 2010. Just remember if he is looking good he will shoot up the draft board quickly and he will cost you more and more each day. He is definitely worth a chance based on his ADP as of now!
