Jason Kipnis |Cleveland Indians| (100%) – Kipnis has been nothing short of amazing for fantasy owners this year especially as of late.  This week Kipnis and his Indians hit the road for all 6 of this week’s games.  This will pay dividends for Kipnis owners.  Kipnis hits 133 points higher while hitting on the road (.365 vs. .232) and has an OBP 107 points higher (.409 vs. .302).  His first series of the week takes place in Detroit against the Tigers.  In 14 career at-bats against the Tigers starters that he’ll face he has 5 hits equating to a .357 average.  Kipnis then takes his talents to St. Louis.  In his short career he has yet to face any of the St. Louis pitchers, but Busch Stadium is 7th best for run creation in baseball (factor of 1.25 runs).

Delmon Young |Detroit Tigers| (30.7%) – Delmon Young has two things going for him this week, great historical numbers and momentum.  Over the last 15 games Young is hitting .340.  First series of the week for young takes place at home against the Indians.  Against the three starters he’ll be facing (Jimenez, Gomez, Lowe) Young has 18 hits in 31 at-bats (.581 average).  Half of those hits were for extra bases.  Next up on Young’s hitlist is the Reds in Cincinnati.  He has yet to face the Reds, but the Great American Ballpark is he most homer-friendly park in the majors yielding a 1.99 homerun factor.

Hitters to Sit

Ian Kinsler |Texas Rangers| (100%) – Kinsler is one of the many hitters to benefit from playing half of his games at the Ballpark in Arlington.  Unfortunately, fantasy owners won’t benefit from his home-field advantage this week.  Kinsler and the Rangers take their show on the road for the entire week.  On the road Kinsler is hitting 78 points lower (.242 vs. .320) and has an OPS that’s 377 points lower (.638 vs. 1.015).  Kinsler faces the A’s to start his week off.  In 148 career at-bats at Oakland Coliseum Kinsler is hitting sub-par .236 with a .303 OBP and horrid .648 OPS.  Kinsler will then face the Giants to end his week.  Out of the three Giants starters that he will face this week he has only faced Zito previously.  His numbers indicate that he’s one of the last remaining players in baseball who have still not figure out how to hit Zito.  In 12 at-bats against Zito, Kinsler has 1 hit.  In 26 at-bats against the entire Giants pitching staff, Kinsler has a .192 average.

Darwin Barney |Chicago Cubs| (19.5%) – A few of you owners out there have probably missed out on the great Beckham waiver wire pickup and have instead focused on Darwin Barney and his hot bat to remedy your second base needs.  Refrain from doing so at least for this week.  Barney plays every game on the road this week.  Hitting away from Wrigley Field, Barney has an average that is 51 points lower (.253 vs. .304) and an OBP 65 points lower (.295 vs. .360).  Barney will face the Brewers first this week.  Against the three Brewers’ starters that he’ll face, Barney has 5 hits in 26 career at-bats (.192 average).  In 46 at-bats at Miller Park Barney has a .239 average as well as a .286 OBP.  Next on the list of stops for Barney this week is Minnesota.  He has yet to face the Twins as well as any of their current pitchers.  However, he will face Diamond, a left-handed pitcher.  Against left-handed pitchers Barney is hitting .244 with a .279 OBP.

Two-Start Pitchers to Start

Ricky Romero |Toronto Blue Jays| (100%) – Romero has been getting a ton of support from his offense during his starts this season.  When Romero's on the mound the team averages 8.83 runs of support, more than twice his ERA.  Romero starts this week off against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.  The current Sox lineup is hitting .182 against Romero in 44 at-bats.  Only 2 of the 8 hits against him have gone for extra bases.  Romero continues the road-trip as well as interleague play in a series against the Braves.  In only 22 at-bats against Romero Braves hitters are hitting for a .227 average.  In 1 career start against Atlanta Romero threw 7 innings and held the Braves to only 2 earned runs.

Derek Holland |Texas Rangers| (59.5%) – Much like Romero, Holland has been helped with a very large run support that backs his large ERA.  Holland averages 8.61 runs per game of support from his offense, good enough for 7th in the American League.  He could be a cheap pickup this week while facing the Athletics and Giants in their expansive parks.  His first start of the week takes place at the Coliseum where he has a 2.49 ERA in 25 innings pitched.  Current A’s hitters are hitting a combined .176 in 85 at-bats against Holland.  Holland and the Rangers travel across the bay for their next series against the Giants.  Holland has only pitched in AT&T Park once in his short career but managed to give up only 1 run in 7 innings pitched there.

Two-Start Pitchers to Sit

Ervin Santana |Los Angeles Angels| (56.0%) – Unlike the previous pitchers, Santana has suffered from a complete lack of run support from his offense.  He has the lowest average run support out of any pitcher in baseball.  He gives up more runs than his team scores for him on average.  His first opponent of the week is Seattle.  Seattle’s hottest hitters (Ichiro and Smoak) have a combined career average of .345 against Santana in 96 at-bats.  Santana then travels to Coors Field to face the hot-hitting Rockies.  He has yet to face the Rockies, but Carlos Gonzalez has a .500 average in 12 career at-bats against Santana which could spell trouble for Santana.  Gonzalez is the hottest hitter in baseball right now.

Anibal Sanchez |Miami Marlins| (100%) – Anibal Sanchez has been day and night between pitching at home and on the road.  His home ERA is 3.34 compared to a road ERA of 1.83.  Both of his starts this week take place at home.  His first start comes against the Braves.  In 151 combines career at-bats against Sanchez, Braves hitters have a .298 average with a .365 OBP.  Sanchez has made 16 starts against the Braves throughout his career.  In those 16 starts he has a 5.51 ERA and a 4-10 win-loss record.  After the Braves, Sanchez’s next start comes against the interstate rival Rays.  In 14 innings pitched against the Rays, Sanchez has given up 7 runs.
