2012 Fantasy Baseball, Week 11 Rookie Report: Jump on Bauer before it’s too late?

This week we look at four promising starting pitchers and a catcher with the “sky” as his limit in the thin air in Colorado.

C- WILIN ROSARIO (COLORADO)- Since taking over for the injured Ramon Hernandez, Rosario has been solid posting overall numbers of .233 BA , 9 HR's and 25 RBI's. Wilin continues to struggle against right hand pitching with a .205 BA but that can be expected with a rookie catcher getting his feet wet in the major leagues. He currently ranks 19th among catchers in CBS leagues in points showing he has some value in roto leagues using the two catcher format.

SP/RP- GARRETT RICHARDS (LA ANGELS)- Richards was a popular pickup this week as a two start pitcher with RP eligibilty in head to head leagues. His body of work shows 12 K's in 13 innings as well as a 1.38 ERA. Richards will remain in the rotation as long as Jered Weaver is on the disabled list, so keep him active until we see what happens with Weaver's return. He is scheduled to pitch again on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

SP- TREVOR BAUER (ARIZONA)- Bauer has yet to throw a pitch in the major leagues but I am recommending that you head to your waiver wire and pick him up as soon as you read this. The word on the street is that the 21 year old phenom will be called up "very soon" as he continues to post unbelieveable numbers in the minors with a 9-1 record, 1.96 ERA and 93 K's in 73 innings between AA and AAA. Why keep mediocre SP's on your roster when you can gamble on a possible stud like Bauer? Grab him now before it is too late.

SP- JOE KELLY (ST. LOUIS)- Kelly who is filling in for Redbirds starter Jaime Garcia who was recently placed on the DL, did an admirable job Sunday in his first major league start. In that game Joe pitched five innings striking out four batters finishing with a 1.80 ERA. The 6-1, 185-pound Southern California native has posted a 2-5 mark with 2.86 ERA in 12 starts for Memphis at the AAA level. His 2.86 ERA is currently ranked 2nd in the Pacific Coast League. He throws upper 90's and has a chance to make an impact for the Cards given he gets the chance. Worth a wait and see approach for now.

SP- NATE EOVALDI (LA DODGERS)- Eovaldi has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his first three starts this season but does not have a win to show for hit. On the season he has a 1.93 ERA and 14 K's in 18 innings of work. He certainly has serviceable numbers but with the return of Ted Lilly from the disabled list this Saturday, Nate might be on the first train headed to Albuqurque. Take a wait and see approach with him to see how the Dodgers situation plays out this weekend.
