2012 Fantasy Baseball, Week 9 Rookie Report: Aoki is A-OK in Milwaukee

This week we take a look at some multi positional players and a red hot Japanese hitter not named Ichiro.

SP/RP-DREW HUTCHINSON (TORONTO)- The 21 year old with little professional baseball experience had his best outing of the year in his last start as he went seven shut out innings striking out nine Orioles in getting the win. For the season Hutch has a 4-2 record with a 4.84 ERA. This start puts Drew on the fantasy radar as a pitcher who may become more serviceable as he gains MLB experience. He is definitely worth picking up in A.L. leagues and worth watching as a pickup in head to head leagues where he will garner a two start week.

SP/RP-PJ WALTERS (MINNESOTA)- Walters has quietly put a nice season together so far with a 2-1 record and a 2.96 ERA in 27 innings of work. The right hander has bounced back and forth from the minors to the majors but just could never catch on with the big club until this year. He doesnt strike out many but has serviceable numbers accross the board. For now he is worth a look in A.L. leagues only or can be useful in head to head leagues when he gets two starts in a week.

1B/3B- JORDAN PACHECO (COLORADO)- Pacheco has looked better since he was recalled from AAA Colorado Springs after starting the season with the big club. In 80+ AB's he has a .289 BA and 9 RBI. Pacheco is a .308 career minor leage hitter and could help your team in a few roto categories if given enough playing time. For now he is the starting third baseman for the Rockies and is useful only in National League only leagues.

2B/SS- FREDDIE GALVIS ( PHILADELPHIA)- Freddie leads all rookies in games played with 50 and is tied in the RBI lead with Jesus Montero with 23. Galvis had a terrible April hitting .191 but began to show improvment through the middle of May getting his BA up to .250. He now finds himself back down into the .236 range with no stolen bases and very little power. Looking at his minor league numbers I see no reason to project Galvis to be anything but a waste of time on your rosters. Keep shopping you can do better at this position.

OF- NORICHIKA AOKI (MILWAUKEE)- Aoki has been lighting it up in Brew Crew land hitting .320 in his last five games. For the season he is hitting .310 with 1 HR and 6 RBI. Manager Ron Roenicke has said he will continue to use Aoki in the outfield as long as he is producing at a high level. I see no reason to believe that he should falter as Aoki brings a .325+ batting average from Japan as well as a .408 OBP and a .875 OPS in his last five years with Yakult. Aoki is useful in roto leagues and National leagues only at this time.
