2012 Fantasy Football Daily Fix, August 14, 2012: Checking In On Quarterback’s ADP
Are you getting prepared for your 2012 fantasy football draft yet? Well, let us do the preparation for you (because we already did). Grab TheFantasyFix.com’s Fantasy Football Draft Guide from our site here, on iTunes or on Amazon. It’s cheaper than a Double-Double at In-N-Out, with a lot less calories. It may not taste as good though…
If you want to grab one of the top three quarterbacks in your 2012 fantasy football draft, you may have to burn a top-ten pick to do so, says Howard Bender of MockdraftCentral.com. Bender indicates that Aaron Rodgers’ average draft position (ADP) has jumped from 7.78 one month ago to the current 6.34 – an increase of 19.4%. Drew Brees, the consensus number two gun-slinger off the board, now currently holds an ADP of 12.51, a 7.2% increase from his 13.46 ADP a month ago. Lastly, Tom Brady’s ADP has seen the biggest jump of the “Big Three” – up 21.4% in the last month from 18.51 to 14.75.
Despite the depth at the quarterback position this year, it’s clear that owners would rather snag one of the “safe” top tier quarterbacks in the first round rather than gambling on the second tier rushers.
John Skelton is reportedly the favorite to start at quarterback over Kevin Kolb in Arizona for the Cardinals. Skelton and Kevin Kolb are currently ranked 30th and 31st respectively by over 100 industry experts. Neither quarterback should be owned in shallow leagues, but Skelton has some great upside, especially in two-quarterback leagues.
Is Josh Freeman being seriously undervalued? On average, the Bucs quarterback is being taken with the 157th overall selection and is the 18th passer off the board. I’m bullish on Freeman, especially at his current cost.
The New York Giants announced yesterday that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks passed his physical and is officially cleared to practice for the first time this training camp. Nicks was initially placed on the PUP list at the start of camp as a resulting from a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during OTAs. Recent ADP data suggests Nicks is the ninth pass catcher to be drafted this year and the 40th overall player to be selected.
Want some more Chad Johnson drama? On Monday, the Broward Sheriff’s office released the 911 call that preceded Jonson’s arrest on Saturday night. Listen here with caution.
