2012 Fantasy Football, Week 12 Rookie Report: Justin Blackmon’s Late Season Surge
Next came the running backs, as Alfred Morris, Trent Richardson, and Doug Martin battled early inconsistencies to become every-week starters in fantasy.
Even the kickers – Greg Zuerlein and Blair Walsh – became key contributors by midseason.
All along, we waited for any wide receiver to become worthy of starting in fantasy leagues. It took a while, but just in time for the playoffs, a couple receivers are emerging as possible help in the postseason.
Here’s a look at the receivers you may want to add down the stretch:
Justin Blackmon: Finally, the kind of week you expected from the No. 5 overall pick of the Jaguars. He was not what you hoped for the first nine games when he never went over 70 yards in one week and then was much more than you could have wanted in the 10th game with 236 receiving yards. Last week, he had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown and those seem like numbers he could continue to put up each week.
T.Y. Hilton: The third round pick of the Colts has nine catches for 133 yards and three touchdowns in the past two weeks. He has scored in three of his last four games and is a nice option in deeper leagues.
Mohamed Sanu: He has scored in three straight games for the Bengals, including two last week. His targets are increasing almost every week and he had a season-high five catches last week, although those went for only 29 yards.
Ryan Broyles: He got into Detroit’s line-up when Nate Burleson was lost for the year and is averaging more than 50 yards per game in his last six. He took advantage of Titus Young being suspended to catch six passes for 126 yards on Thanksgiving and Young may not be back anytime soon, so Broyles becomes a fantasy option.
