2012 Fantasy Football, Week 12 Waiver Wire: Ronnie Hillman Is A Must Add

Ronnie Hillman

Welcome to week 12’s waiver wire. All recommendations are given with a standard 12-team head-to-head league in mind. If you want more specific suggestions for your league format, use our Quick Fix or shoot me a message on Twitter.

Chad Henne (QB | Jacksonville Jaguars | two percent owned in Y!) Easily not the sexiest name featured this week — and possibly ever — on the waiver wire. But the fact that Henne tossed four touchdown passes on 357 yards through the air should give desperate owners a reason to look his way. Henne will play the lifeless Titans next week who are yielding more than 22 fantasy points per week to opposing signal callers. Owners in 14-team leagues and deeper as well as two-quarterback leagues should take a gander.

Colin Kaepernick (QB | San Francisco 49ers | four percent owned in Y!) Wrote about Kaepernick last week here. But as of this writing, Kaepernick is having himself one helluva game against the Bears which could cause a quarterback controversy in San Francisco.

Ronnie Hillman (RB | Denver Broncos | 16 percent owned in Y!) With the news that Willis McGahee suffered a torn MCL in yesterday’s game against the Chargers, rookie Ronnie Hillman from San Diego State becomes a favorite to take the lion’s share of carries out of the Denver backfield. The kid was a beast in college — breaking Marshall Faulk’s freshman rushing record, then broke the WAC single-season rushing record in his second year. Hillman’s best outing thus far in twenty-twelve came in week eight against the Saints (no surprise) in which he carried the ball 14 times for 86 yards. WIth Peyton Manning opening up the field and Denver’s favorable schedule going forward, all I can say is upside, upside, upside. If you’re a Willis McGahee owner, or just someone in need of a ball carrier, I would spend most of my FAAB or burn my number one waiver claim to secure Hillman.

Bryce Brown (RB | Philadelphia Eagles | 4 percent owned in Y!) LeSean McCoy suffered a concussion against the Redskins on Sunday with just about two minutes left in the game. The Eagles were down 25 points and Andy Reid decided to run the ball in an “attempt to win the game.” I don’t get it. But, anyway, Bryce Brown is likely to see an increased role in the Eagles’ offense should McCoy not be cleared by week 12’s contest against the Panthers. Against the Skins, Brown carried the ball just five times, but gained 39 yards for an average of 7.8 yards per carry. The Eagles will face the Panthers in week 12, who are giving up the league’s ninth most fantasy points to opposing running backs (20.02 points per game). McCoy owners and those who are hoarding running backs need to grab Brown who could be a decent flex option in week 12 if McCoy’s doesn’t go.

Jalen Parmalee (RB | Jacksonville Jaguars | four percent owned in Y!) Parmalee may not be the sexiest add for week 12 — since it may only be short-term — but after logging 24 carries for 80 yards against the Texans in week 11, you have to consider him. The Jags coaching staff has already called Parmalee the starting back for their week 12 contest against the Titans, who are surrendering 24 fantasy points per game to opposing ball carriers, fourth friendliest in the NFL behind just Buffalo, Jacksonville and New Orleans. Parmalee makes for a fantastic plug-and-play in week 12, looking like a flex at worst.

Julian Edelman (WR | New England Patriots | three percent owned in Y!) Julian reeled in five passes for 58 yards and a score, rushed the ball once for 47 yards and returned a punt for a touchdown this weekend. Pretty exciting, eh? It is, especially since he was on the field for most of the Patriots snaps when they featured two wide receiver sets. Seems like he’ll be eating into Brandon Lloyd’s action going forward if the trend continues. Owners in deep leagues and those that start three wide receivers should take a stab at adding the Patriot.

T.Y. Hilton (WR | Indianapolis Colts | 23 percent owned in Y!) Hilton has appeared in numerous editions of the Rookie Report here at the Fix, so most owners know what he can do. In week 11, Hilton snagged six passes for 100 yards and he reached pay dirt twice.
