2012 Fantasy Football, Week 13 Gold Mine: Colin Kaepernick Demands Your Attention
Colin Kaepernick
I’m back from my one week holiday break, and it’s time to find some real fantasy gems off the waiver wire for your playoff push. There are quite a few, but I’ve narrowed the field down to five guys that are available in far too many leagues and absolutely have to be owned.
Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco 49ers (Available in 64% of leagues)
Kaep has looked great for three weeks in a row now, and he’s got the 49ers’ starting QB gig locked up. He had a solid showing against the Saints and his numbers will get even more explosive as he gets more comfortable. He needs to be owned in all leagues.
Beanie Wells, RB, Arizona Cardinals (53%)
Wells returned with two scores and 48 rushing yards, and did so against a solid defense in the Rams. Look for AZ to focus on running the ball a bit more down the stretch, which should give him borderline RB2 value at the very worst.
Shane Vereen, RB, New England Patriots (90%)
Vereen is making it hard for the Patriots to keep him off the field. After a crazy game against the Jets last week, look for him to be a common fixture in the offensive game plan. He’s still just a Flex option, but he’s at least worth a roster stash right now.
Chris Givens, WR, St. Louis Rams (92%)
Givens returned from a one game team suspension to light up the Cardinals for 115 yards and a score – further showing his explosive nature. Even when Danny Amendola is fully healthy, the rook clearly carries a ton of upside. Look at him as a stable WR3 with WR2 potential in any given week.
Rob Housler, TE, Arizona Cardinals (99%)
As long as Ryan Lindley sticks ast the Cards’ starting quarterback, the athletic Housler could keep getting chances. Lindley clearly loves him (eight catches for 82 yards in week 12), and Housler’s awesome size and speed give him nice upside as a checkdown option going forward.
