2012 Fantasy Football, Week 3 Target Practice: Santonio Feeling Right at Holmes

He Was Targeted How Many Times?

Santonio Holmes | WR | NYJ – (14 Targets)

It's a well known fact that for a good portion of last season Holmes and his QB Mark Sanchez literally did not speak to each other.  So you've got to think once they patched things up in the offseason and were on "speaking terms" again that their on field connection might improve.  Three weeks into the season and it looks like that is the case.  14 targets this past week for Holmes, don't be surprised to see him keep commanding this many.  With the Jets losing Revis for the season their defense might be giving up more points per game, and they do have an anemic running game, oh and just about zero other receiving options.

Kenny Britt | WR | TEN – (11 Targets)

The targets didn't translate into real production this week but expect to see that happen real soon.  It might be another week or so though as Britt is being hampered by the ankle injury he's had for quite some time.  But Jake Locker is emerging as a solid QB and Britt is his only true threat.  The titans are also in a position where they have to rely on their passing game since CJ2K is just about if not more atrocious so far this year than he was to start last season.

Ramses Barden | WR | NYG – (10 Targets)

This is much more a product of just how good Eli Manning has become than a reflection of Barden's talent.  You've also got to take into consideration that Hakeem Nicks didn't play this game.  With Nicks back expect Barden to take a backseat in the passing game.  Keep an eye on him for the future though since Nicks is frequently injured.

Wait, Did I Read that Right, That’s All?

Marques Colston | WR | NO – (5 Targets)

It's Drew Brees and Marques Colston, need I say more?  But seriously even though the Saints can't seem to win a game that doesn't mean that they're going to stop being efficient in the passing game.  This week was a fluke and Colston is Brees' top option along side Jimmy Graham for the foreseeable future.

Greg Little | WR | CLE – (4 Targets)

Little is a volume type guy, he's not going to score a TD week in and week out but he should stay pretty high in the receptions category.  This is especially the case considering that the Browns are pretty bad and they play from behind rather frequently.  Write this week off and expect to see the abysmal Brandon Weeden checking down frequently to Little going forward.

Nate Washington | WR | TEN – (3 Targets)

Washington has long been a fantasy tease.  Most owners and experts have always expected more out of the guy, or more specifically some consistency.  With Kenny Britt back he takes a back seat in the offense and he might break out from week to week but he's nobody to be relied on, that's for sure.
