2012 Fantasy Football, Week 4 Tight End Rankings: Gronk On Top
Vernon Davis
1) ROB GRONKOWSKI (@BUF)- Gronk absolutely owns the Bills as he has scored seven touchdowns in four games against them. In those games he has 22 receptions for 314 yards. He also is coming off a tough week against the Ravens. He is a no brainer as this week's number one ranked tight end.
3) VERNON DAVIS (@NYJ)- The 49ers will travel accross country for a East coast tilt with the Jets. Davis continues to put up TE1 numbers as he has scored four touchdowns on the season already. He is a must start every week.
4) TONY GONZALEZ (CAR)- Gonzo is like the energizer bunny as the 36 year old just keeps going. Last week he had a nine catch 91 yard performance with a touchdown. He was targeted a team high 12 times. I do not expect these numbers every week but he is a must start on a weekly basis.
5) DENNIS PITTA (CLE)- Pitta makes his first appearance in my top 12 and I love him this week at home versus Cleveand. . Through three games Pitta is tied with Jimmy Graham for the most TE targets. He's second to Tony Gonzalez with 18 receptions. Pitta has posted at least 50 yards in each game this year, while scoring a pair of TDs.
6) KYLE RUDOLPH (@DET)- Rudy has developed quite a nice rapport with his fellow QB Christian Ponder. Kyle is Ponder's go to red zone guy which has bode well as he has scored three touchdowns in his last two games. Detroit has struggled against opposing team's TE's this year so mark Rudolph down for another score this week.
7) BRANDON PETTIGREW (MIN)- Pettigrew received a team high 12 targets last week against the Titans as he posted a eight catch 61 yard performance. Brandon won't break you a 50 yard TD catch but the targets alone make him an intriguing option in the Lions pass game.
8) MARTELLUS BENNETT (@PHI)- Bennett comes into the Philly game riding a three game TD catch streak. Needless to say I recommend you ride the hot streak until the ride comes to an end.
9) OWEN DANIELS (TEN)- Daniels scored a touchdown last week and will look to stay hot against a defense that can not stop the tight end position. The Titans have given up five TD's already and a league high fantasy scoring points to opposing tight ends.
10) ANTONIO GATES (@KC)- My faith in Gates is dwindling as the 32 year old just seems to not be able to create seperation anymore from his defender. This week Gates draws a KC defense that he has had some success against in the past.
11) FRED DAVIS (@TB)- Davis had his best game of the season last week as he posted a seven catch 90 yard performance against the Bengals. Some of those stats were posted at garbage time last week so I am hoping maybe he and RGIII can build off that performance.
12) JERMICHAEL FINLEY (NO)- Something tells me Finley goes off this week against the hapless Saints defense. The Saints rank 25th agsint the pass which should bode well for Finley.
13) BRENT CELEK
14) JASON WITTEN
15) SCOTT CHANDLER
16) JACOB TAMME
17) JERMAINE GRESHAM
18) GREG OLSEN
19) TONY MOEAKI
20) DUSTIN KELLER
2) JIMMY GRAHAM (@GB)- This game should be a shoot out as the Saints for their life against an angry Packer team coming off a very emotional Monday night loss. Graham has scored in six straight games but will take on the league’s number one defense this weekend. I expect plenty of points and a ton of chances for Graham.
3) VERNON DAVIS (@NYJ)- The 49ers will travel accross country for a East coast tilt with the Jets. Davis continues to put up TE1 numbers as he has scored four touchdowns on the season already. He is a must start every week.
