2015 Fantasy Football, Week 5 Deep Sleepers
Everybody knows to start Le’Veon Bell, Aaron Rodgers and Julio Jones. In this article we will be covering deep sleepers. Guys that a lot of people may be able to find on their waiver wire. If you’re desperate for an emergency play or a cheap DFS option, this is where you find those guys. Just remember all these guys are longshots. Don’t bench your stars for them!
We hit on Gary Barnidge last week in as a high-value tight end for Week 3. This week we’ll continue to bring you your top fantasy football deep sleepers here at The Fantasy Fix.
Quarterback
Blake Bortles, JAX
Since Week 1, Bortles has averaged 271 yards per game and has thrown more touchdowns than interceptions in each game. That’s tough to beat if you’re searching the waiver wire for a desperation play. Combine that with the fact he’s matched up against the Buccaneers this week and you have yourself a solid sleeper QB. Both Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are emerging as viable options in the passing game. Bortles is well ahead of last year’s pace. He’s on track for 3,984 yards, 24 yards and 12 interceptions, which is much better than last seasons, 2,908 yards, 11 TDs and 17 INTs.
Running Backs
Chris Thompson, WAS
Thompson has emerged as the Redskins primary pass-catching back. He couldn’t have a better matchup this week than the Atlanta Falcons. They have been torched each and every week by RBs out of the backfield. He is a tremendous DFS option this week as well. All the sharks are on him. He’s probably on your waiver wire and may be the top PPR back this week. I like him more than guys like Darren Sproles, Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead, etc.
Anthony Dixon, BUF
LeSean McCoy will not play this week and Karlos Williams is very questionable with a concussion. Williams was diagnosed Monday night and will have to complete the league’s concussion protocol to be allowed to play. Head coach Rex Ryan has announced Boobie Dixon will be the starting running back if Williams can’t go. No matter who the RB is, the Bills are going to run the ball early and often. The only other options are Cierre Wood and the recently acquired Boom Herron. Dixon isn’t overly good, but could see a high volume of touches, which is all you need sometimes.
Wide Receivers
Keith Mumphery, HOU
Both Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts have been ruled out for Thursday Night Football. That leaves Mumphery as the starter opposite DeAndre Hopkins. There is a very good chance that Andrew Luck, assuming he plays, gets the Colts a lead and the Texans have to continuously throw to keep up. With very limited options, Mumphery could see a ton of targets. There is little doubt, the Colts are going to double and even triple team Hopkins. That doesn’t mean they’ll stop him, but he will at least be covered occasionally. Mumphery caught four passes for 56 yards last week. He was targeted seven times. Double-digit targets are not out of the question.
Dorial Green-Beckham, TEN
DGB has caught a TD in back-to-back games had the bye week to get more heavily integrated into the offense. Green-Beckham is supremely talented. There is a good chance he’s just another athletic flop, however, his upside is immense. When searching for deep sleeper, that’s what you look for. This is strictly an upside play. DGB is a talented young wideout in WR corps that lacks talent.
Tight End
TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, HOU
This goes along with Texans have no other options thing. He caught three passes for 28 yards and a TD last week. Much like Mumphery, he should see some targets purely out of necessity, plus, he’s a red zone presence. There are a ton of injured TEs and Fiederowicz is almost certainly available on your waiver wire. If you’re desperate, he could be a decent play on Thursday night.

Hi Guys – a couple of quick questions for you:
1. RB – start Chris Johnson or Alfred Morris?
2. FLEX play – start Kamar Aiken, CJ Anderson, Gio Bernard or Danny Woodhead
Thanks, Dan
