Building the Perfect Fantasy Football Team 2014

demarco land

In this article we will take a look back on the year that was and build the perfect fantasy team based on ADP. This is a team that was actually draftable, not just the best players available. Everything is taken in to consideration. Total points, playoff performance and everything in between. We will only be drafting the starting position players in this article, with a brief overview of the bench. If you guys would draft a team a different way feel free to post your team in our comment section.

Before we get to the players, it’s worth noting that DraftKings is an excellent place to spend your offseason. If you’re new to daily fantasy basketball and/or hockey we have daily articles here at the Fix to help you get started.

Round 1: RB DeMarco Murray, DAL ADP 13.6
It would have been a bit of a stretch to grab Murray in the first but there are plenty of Cowboys’ fans that would do it. Especially if Dez Bryant was gone. Nobody makes homer picks like the delusional Cowboys’ fans. However, this season it worked out as Murray had a career year and was a fantasy MVP candidate.

Round 2: RB Le’Veon Bell, PITT ADP 23.4
Bell was our fantasy MVP here at TheFantasyFix.com. He had an excellent year and peaked right down the stretch when you needed him most in to the playoffs. Not that he really had many down games. He was the best fantasy pick this season and his ADP makes him more valuable than anybody else. Bell was a steal late in the second round.

Round 3: WR Antonio Brown, PITT ADP 25.0
Brown was the best WR in the NFL this season, hands down. He led the league in yards, receptions and is right near the top in TDs as well. Anybody that had the foresight to wait and draft Brown as their WR1 was rewarded greatly.

Round 4: TE Rob Gronkowski, NE ADP 32.4
Due to injury concerns Gronk dropped in to the fourth round of plenty of drafts. Those who rolled the dice on them were greatly rewarded. He played all 16 games and capped the fantasy season off by playing every offensive snap in the championship game. There were a couple of TEs drafted ahead of him in many leagues.

Round 5: WR T.Y. Hilton, IND ADP 67.0
This is a bit of a stretch but many people were very high on T.Y. heading in to the season. The other option was DeSean Jackson and Hilton was just way better this season. Sure maybe we stretched a few spots early but he was certainly still available in most drafts in the bottom of round five.

Round 6: WR Emmanuel Sanders, DEN ADP 68.6
We turned around in the sixth round and grabbed another breakout star WR. Sanders may be the steal of this draft. He was one of the best WRs in football this season and was able to overcome Peyton Manning’s struggles during the playoffs. When you needed him most he even outperformed teammate Demaryius Thomas.

Round 7: WR Jeremy Maclin, PHI ADP 76.6
We pretty much had a pick of a ton of players’ right here, but we decided to keep it according to ADP and went with the comeback player of the year Maclin. He not only filled in admirably for D-Jax, he was better. Which should not have been a surprise because he was better when they were both healthy as well.

Round 8: QB Russell Wilson, SEA ADP 88.0
Wilson was a bit up and down this season but when it mattered most he came up huge with a ridiculous stat line in the championship game. Wilson was a steal at this point being drafted in the same round as Jay Cutler.

Starting Team

QB Russel Wilson
RB DeMarco Murray
RB Le’Veon Bell
WR Antonio Brown
WR TY Hilton
WR Emmanuel Sanders
TE Rob Gronkowski
FLEX Jeremy Maclin

Bench
We can then build our bench with a number of very draftable players. We chose the players below. We would then stream defense and kickers.

QB Ben Roethlisberger, RD 11
RB Lamar Miller, RD 10
RB Justin Forsett, RD 13
WR Kelvin Benjamin, RD 9
WR Odell Beckham Jr, RD 12

That there is the perfect fantasy team. DeAndre Hopkins was the player that most narrowly missed the cut between Big Ben and ODB. A backup QB was necessary, especially Roethlisberger who most likely would become your starter and Beckham was a more than sufficient replacement for your WR5. He was a steal this season due to a severe preseason hamstring injury which cost him the first month of the season. If you drafted this bench, most likely they became your starters at some point in the season. Late rounds are where championships are won and lost.
