There's never been a question if Tyler Colvin, formerly of the Cubs now a Rockies outfielder, could hit for power.  It was always his penchant for the strikeout that kept him off the field consistently.  In the Rockies loss to the Angels he went 3-for-4 from the plate and hit his sixth homer of the year along with 3 RBI.  If Colvin finds himself with a starting gig he's a guy to keep your eye on going forward.

Also in Colorado that guy they called Cargo continued his monstrous season with his 16th home run of the year.

Let's be honest with each other here, nobody saw this kind of season coming from Ryan Dempster.  The Cubs righty tossed another gem against the Twins on Sunday, he went 8.0 innings, allowed no earned runs and struck out six for just his second win of the year.  He might not be getting any run support for that microscopic 2.31 ERA but it truly doesn't matter that much.  Now is still a good time to check what you can get for him in deals around your league though.

Russell Martin powered up for the Yankees to help them overcome the Mets in the third game of their Subway Series sweep.  Russell's seventh and eight homers mark the hot stretch he's been on of late.  He had a real slow start to the season but has cranked out half of his home run total over just the past two weeks.

Another sweep of interleague opponents occurred but not one nearly as predictable.  The Nationals went in to Fenway and took the Sox down for three straight.  Although the only big performance of the day was from Big Papi who belted his 14th home run of the season.  The big guy just continues to mash and although you can only use him in your utility position this is only a reason to score him at a lesser value from league mates.

Is Jason Kipnis ever going to slow down?  My guess would be somewhat but this guy is for real.  Kipnis notched his 10th home run and 15th stolen base of the season in the Indians win over the Cards on Sunday.  The young 2b is on pace for over 20 HR and 30 SB with an AVG not too far below .300.  He's for real and if your league mates are ready to sell high you should be buying at the reduced price.

After he hadn't given up an earned run all season, Aroldis Chapman has now done so in back to back outings.  The flame thrower entered with two on in the eight and allowed both of the inherited base runners to score, plus two more.  This marks just his second loss of the season and a short cold spell.  Take this as an opportunity to buy him at a reduced rate.

The Tim Lincecum slaughter season continued against Texas on Sunday.  Timmy gave up five earned over just 5.2 innings, struck out five but as usual gave away too many free passes (4).  All hope is beginning to be lost on Tim, if you elect to move for him at a low price I'd suggest sitting him for benching him for some time.

Also in San Francisco the Rangers staff might have combined for a three hitter against the anemic Giants but left with a bad taste in their mouth.  Alexi Oganda pitched just 3.0 innings before he left the game with a strained groin after a bunt single.  Oganda had just taken the place in the rotation of the injured Derek Holland.

Well since there’s only four games on the schedule for Monday night there’s not much selection to be had on the pitching matchup front, so i’ll take:
 Josh Beckett (BOS) Vs. Josh Johnson (MIA) will just about do it.

The saves of the night were recorded by: Jose Veras (1), Fernando Rodney (18), Tyler Clippard (8), Jason Grilli (1), Chris Perez (20), Brett Myers (15), Scott Downs (6), J.J. Putz (13), and lastly Jose Valverde (12).

Matchup of the Day:

Yankees Hitters against Randall Delgado.  Delgado has a 4.26 ERA to date in a weak National League.  He might get the Yankees at home but it's still a difficult assignment, especially considering the Yankees bats might finally be hitting up.  Delgado tends to get himself into a little trouble with the free passes and Yankees hitters are notoriously patient.
