Josh Johnson is finally stringing together a strong stretch after a rough start to the season.  Following up a 7.2 inning, nine K effort his last time out he tossed 7.0 innings of one run ball to go with seven K last night.  Johnson moved to 4-4 in beating the Red Sox.

On the other side of the ball Josh Beckett didn't fare as well, 7.0 innings of four run ball with seven K's.  Beckett has been inconsistent this year to say the least, per the usual.

Ivan Nova had what was easily his best start of the season against the Braves on Monday in Atlanta.  The young righty tossed 8.0 innings of one run ball, the first time all year he gave up less than two earned runs.  He's still not a solid play start in and start out but keep an eye going forward.

The Mike Trout and Bryce Harper potential debate may be ongoing for years but at this point there is simply no question of who is more valuable this season.  Trout went 2-of-4 from the plate, belted his sixth home run, knocked in two runs and stole another two bags (13 total).  Trout's average is up over .350 for the season, naturally regression is to be expected but these counting stats should keep on coming.

Speaking of the other young star taking the league by storm, Bryce Harper himself had a solid night for the Nats.  Harper went 3-of-4 from the plate, scored two runs and pushed his season AVG to .295, he also stole his 4th base.  The counting stats are not there like Trout's are but Harper has some serious value the rest of the year in his own right.

Don't look now but maybe Colby Rasmus is finally recovering from all of the mental damage caused by Tony LaRussa.  Rasmus the post hype sleeper of many went just 1-of-4 but knocked his 9th home run of the season.  Over the past 14 days Rasmus has hit four home runs and knocked in 10, while his AVG sits impressively above .300.  With so much potential it is well worth a waiver wire grab.

Brandon Morrow strained a muscle in his left side after just nine pitches for the Jays.  Keep an eye on his health going forward, as he's been a great value this year.  Especially for those of us out there (myself included) who've been drafting on his insane K potential for years now.

There were only two handshakes last night, they went to, Heath Bell (13) and Ernesto Frieri (5).

With a full slate of games tomorrow night here are the match ups I’m looking forward to most:
Bud Norris (HOU) Vs. Madison Bumgarner (SF) and C.C. Sabathia (NYY) Vs. Mike Minor (ATL).

Matchup of the Day:

Adam Wainwright against the White Sox.  Not that the White Sox aren't a team of solid hitters but I think it's just about time Wainwright gets off the snide.  As you can see here, we’re bullish on his ROS prospects.
