The Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Yankees’ Jorge Posada Pulls A Tiger Woods
Chad Billingsley threw a one-hit gem and still received the loss, which does not happen too often. It was last seen in June 22, 2006. He probably was not too happy with his teammates.
The amazing reemergence of Ryan Vogelsong continues after he collected his first career shutout (albeit it was only 6 innings before being rained out). A quick refresher, Vogelsong was a hot prospect in the year 2000–to put that into perspective, Bill Clinton was president. Today, after returning to the big leagues for the first time since 2006 he is 3-0 with a 2.36 ERA. This seems too improbable to last for an entire season, but sometimes you just have to ride the wave.
Victor Martinez has spent the last week absolutely raking (.542, 2, 13), he is on an 11-game hitting streak in which he has raised his average from .200 to .333. Shows how quickly things can change.
All kinds of fantasy pitcher goodness today: Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum and youngster Michael Pineda. The spotlight will probably be on Trevor Cahill and Mark Scherzer though as they race to become the first 7-game winner in the league.
Things you would not expect to hear about last year's number one draft pick: "You have some of the worst eyes I've ever seen." The legend of Bryce Harper just continues to grow.
This year has not yield a special crop of everyday rookie players, but Darwin Barney is batting over .330 and is in the top-ten at both SS and 2B, if he is available in your league he is worth a pick-up.
On a somber note, Harmen Killebrew decided to give up his battle with cancer, keep your thoughts with him and and his family.
