Recent call-up of the Rockies’, Charlie Blackmon went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in last night. In ten games since being promoted, Blackmon is batting .410, collecting 16 hits in 39 at bats.  The Rockies’ outfielder is owned in just 12% of Y! leagues and should be rostered in all formats.

On this day in 2005, Derek Jeter connected for his first ever Grand Slam, on his 156th plate appearance with the bases loaded.

Dustin Ackley singled to Phillies’ pitcher Roy Oswalt in the bottom of the second inning to earn his first career MLB hit. Ackley finished the night 1-for-4 in the 4-2 win for the Mariners over the Phillies.

Last night, Carlos Gonzalez, Sean Rodriguez and Jhonny Peralta each went 2-for-4 with a homerun and four runs batted in.

Ian Desmond swiped two bags in a Nationals’ 8-4 victory over the Orioles. The speedy short stop now has 20 stolen bases on the season, good for third in the National League.

The San Diego Padres offense leads MLB with 574 strikeouts. This is just one reason why I’m glad I didn’t renew my season tickets this year.

Kyle Farnsworth (15), Brandon League (20), Andrew Bailey (3), Jordan Walden (16), Joakim Soria (11), Carlos Marmol (14), Frank Francisco (7) and Matt Capps (10) each converted save opportunities last evening.

Welcome Back: Joe Mauer played with the big boys for the first time in over two months, going 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The Houston Astros got bad news from Dr. Lewis Yocum on Friday as Brandon Lyon returned to the disabled list and appears headed for surgery. Astros’ GM Ed Wade noted that Lyon was diagnosed with a “rare injury and that it was more serious than what is typical of biceps tendinitis.”

Carl Crawford left Friday’s game with a Grade 1 (least severe) strain of the left hamstring. Crawford was lifted for pinch runner Darnell McDonald when he began to limp after legging out an infield single to third base. The Boston left fielder will be re-evaluated on Saturday.

Adrian Gonzalez blasted his 15th moon shot on Friday in a 10-4 victory over the Brew Crew. Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4, now leads MLB with a .352 batting average.

Joakim Soria converted his fourth consecutive save since regaining the Royals’ closer role, in a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals.
