2014 Fantasy Football Daily Fix: Week 4 Running Backs

For today’s Daily Fix I’ll list several different options in different price ranges at DraftKings, a great daily fantasy sports site. DraftKings is currently running a special contest with a $100,000 prize pool, which is free to enter with your first deposit. DraftKings will match that deposit up to $600. Otherwise, the entry fee is just $2, with first place winning $10,000. Be sure to check that out. Here are the full NFL scoring and settings rules at DraftKings.

Expensive

Le’Veon Bell – $7,400 at Tampa Bay – This should be the lock of the week considering how bad Tampa Bay has been on defense and how studly Bell has been so far this season and throughout his young career.

Lamar Miller – $6,200 at Oakland – Miller is averaging 87 total yards through three games this year, and as the starter last week he put up 132 including four catches. Oakland is the sixth worst fantasy defense against running backs, giving up well over four yards a carry. Given how poorly Ryan Tannehill has played the Dolphins should rely on Miller a lot this week, so he has a lot going for him at a good price.

Reasonable

Ahmad Bradshaw – $5,800 vs. Tennessee – Bradshaw has at least 83 total yards in every game this season, and he’s scored three times in his last two games. His three scores have come from one, six and seven yards out, respectively, so he’s getting a ton of run in the red zone. He’s averaging 9.5 yards a catch and six yards a carry. He won’t need a ton of work to contribute for you, but his involvement running, receiving and in the red zone portend good things against a Titans defense that’s giving up almost five yards a carry and four touchdowns in three games to running backs.

Donald Brown – $5,400 vs. Jacksonville – The Jaguars have the league’s worst run defense in terms of fantasy points allowed, giving up six total touchdowns and over 90 total yards per game to running backs on the season. Brown did not do much on his 31 carries, but getting 30 carries and five catches on six targets is the point: he’s going to get a lot of work, especially with Danny Woodhead out, and with such a great matchup he should do work this weekend.

Cheap

Matt Asiata – $4,500 vs. Atlanta – Asiata hasn’t done much on the ground in his two starts, but he has caught 5-48 and 3-36, respectively. With DraftKings being a PPR format he’s worth starting as a low-end RB especially due to the matchup. Atlanta has allowed the third most fantasy points to running backs this season, as well as the second most catches (23) and third most receiving yards (224).

Bishop Sankey – $4,100 at Indianapolis – This is just a pure speculative play, and he should only be used in games with high-end payouts and not 50/50 or Double Up contests. Sankey is a boom or bust type this early in the season due to the uncertainty around his workload. But he did rush for 61 yards on just 10 carries Sunday, showing his potential. It’s likely the Titans will be trailing a lot Sunday, but with Jake Locker‘s poor play I believe they’ll try to run as much as they can.
