2014 Fantasy Football Daily Fix: Week 7 Tight Ends
It is on to Week 7 of Daily Fantasy Football at DraftKings. I’m back again this week to offer my picks for the Tight End position at DraftKings. The Saints are back, but the lead dog may be down this week. And the rest of the field doesn’t look too attractive. So, let’s see what there is to choose from for the Week 7 DFS slate.
This is a great week to check out DraftKings and pick up a new way to play fantasy football.
DraftKings Tight End Recommendations
If you’ve never played on DraftKings before, you can get a deposit bonus by signing up. And there are different options to pick from at DraftKings for any skill level.
Also, a gentle reminder on the scoring for Tight Ends – this is a PPR site so remember that when selecting players. The full for scoring for Tight Ends is at the end of this column.
Tight Ends can also be used in the flex position at DraftKings. However, with the entire world of RBs and WRs at your disposal, it would be unlikely you’d have to head to the TEs to pick up a flex play. Jimmy Graham is always in play as a flex option.
Let’s take a look at a couple of options at each price point. For those who are new to the column, I’ll generally look at a couple of options in each pricing tier broken out based on the socioeconomic status of 1970s sitcom families. And I’ll always cover Jimmy Graham.
I’ll mention Football Outsiders a lot over the season – the passes per game and yards per game stats I use are from Football Outsiders. Here is the link to Football Outsiders’ 2013 stats. FO stats for 2014 are here and I like to use the defense versus types of receivers to fill out my rosters.
Teams on bye: Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – we don’t lose much out of the TE ranks this week, so no bye week excuses for anyone this week.
The Graham Tier
Jimmy Graham | Saints | $6,500 – Pass. It’s not clear that Graham will play this week, and even if he does, he won’t likely be 100%. There is no reason to pay a premium for Graham this week.
The Jeffersons
Martellus Bennett | Bears | $5,100 – Bennett has disappointed over the last two weeks as the Bears attempt to get Brandon Marshall more involved in the offense. However, this week he gets the Dolphins who give up 8.3 passes per game to TEs which is the seventh most to TEs in the league. Bennett will likely get more opportunities this week than he’s had in the past couple of weeks.
Jordan Reed | Washington | $5,000 – When Reed is healthy, he is a key cog in Washington’s “offense.” He slid right back into his TE1 role last week as he was targeted 11 times. He’s on a terrible team that can’t run the ball and has a good matchup against the Titans 24th ranked defense. I believe Reed is going to be my play this week.
All in the Family
Jordan Cameron | Browns | $4,600 – Cameron is a boom or bust option as it looks like the Browns know their bread is buttered in their backfield with the RBs to control the game, limiting Brian Hoyer’s impact on the game. Cameron’s matchup against the Jaguars is great for him, but he’ll need to convert on his limited chances to be effective.
Good Times
The pickings are slim this week down below $4,000. These guys are punt or GPP plays only. I wouldn’t recommend using any of these guys in cash games.
Dwayne Allen | Colts | $3,700 – Allen’s upside is limited by the presence of Coby Fleener ($3,000), but Allen has been the TD machine in the Colts’ offense so far. The Colts face the Bengals who give up the most passes per game (11.1) to TEs in the league. The chances should be there for Allen on Sunday.
Jared Cook | Rams | $3,600 – Cook had 11 targets last week but only hauled in four of them in the Rams’ Monday night loss to the 49ers. The opportunities are there for Cook as he walks into another solid matchup with the Seahawks who are 29th against the TE this season.
Larry Donnell | $3,500 | Giants – One catch in the last two weeks puts Donnell in the TE doghouse. He’s back on the list because the matchup is so choice with Dallas. He’s got one more week and then he’s dead to me.
Chase Ford | Vikings | $3,000 – Ford continues to have the lead TE role in the Vikings offense (such as it is). Last week he picked up four catches on five targets. His upside isn’t huge, but his matchup is great against the Bills.
Good luck in Week 7!
