Here goes nothing…

Nyjer Morgan of the Brewers will get the start today in center field in place of Carlos Gomez. It will be interesting to see if/how two speedsters co-exist in the Brewers’ lineup.

Nelson Cruz has homered in four consecutive games, all of which were solo shots. Cruz is batting .429 to start the season. Hope he avoids the injury bug.

Brian Roberts now has two homeruns and eight RBIs through four games. As the 12th second basemen to come off the board, and with an ADP of about 132, Roberts is clearly looking to make a profit for his owners.

Three shoulder surgeries and two years later, Erik Bedard started a Major League game for the Mariners. He surrendered five runs (three earned) on four hits (two homeruns), walked two and struck out three. I would still avoid Bedard, for now, or at least keep him on the bench until he proves he is back.

Need a short-term source of stolen bases? Willie Bloomquist of the Arizona Diamondbacks has swiped three bags, is batting .357, and has multiple position (3B,OF) eligibility. Remember, he is only filling in for Stephen Drew, unless he forces someone like Melvin Mora out of the lineup.

As a follow up to his 4/4, 4 RBI day on Sunday, Brennan Boesch went 1/4 with a double and a strikeout. Ryan Raburn owners are hoping he keeps swinging at the first pitch.

Chris Narveson shut out the Braves for six innings yesterday, striking out five, walking three and allowing three hits. Narveson was in line for the win until he got Saito’d and left with a no decision. He doesn’t make it onto my team’s staff, but I’ll add him to the “watch list” as a possible stream going forward.

The Atlanta Braves young pitcher, Brandon Beachy, dazzled in six innings pitched, allowing just one run on four hits, walking one and striking out seven. Add now in 12 team mixed leagues and greater with confidence. FAAB ‘em for about $7-$10. Keep an eye on his innings, as he COULD be limited in 2011. You’re welcome.

Evan says another “Young Gun”, Ivan Nova of the Yankees, who earned his first win of 2011 yesterday, is
ready to explode!

Crag Kimbrel (2), Neftali Feliz (1), Mariano Rivera (3), Carlos Marmol (2) and Joel Hanrahan (3) each earned saves yesterday, 4/4/2011.

Three pitchers I’ll be watching today: James McDonald vs. St. Louis, Jhoulys Chacin vs. the Dodgers and Michael Pineda vs. Texas.

Question for the commenters: Who will be the top THREE pitchers from this pool at the conclusion of 2011?

Brandon Beachy, Kyle Drabek, Mike Minor, Chris Narveson, Michael Pineda, Zach Britton, Chris Tillman, James McDonald, Jhoulys Chacin? Go!
