2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: CC Sabathia Wins 14th, Pedroia Stays Hot & More!

Happy "Carmegedon" to everyone in Southern California.  To those you around the country wondering what I am talking about; it is the traffic equivalent as Y2K.  Essentially a media created hysteria, that became a non-event.  Now, on to the games…

Joey-Bats as he's been called sat out another game on Saturday, but with an off-day on Monday, there is a hope he should be ready to go Tuesday.

C.C. Sabathia threw a 3-hitter on his way to a major league leading 14th win.  At this point, he is the only dependable Yankee starter.

Dustin Pedroia was hot going into the break and he kept it up Saturday going 2-5 with a home run.  In July, he is batting .409 with 5 home runs 10 RBI's.

Emilio Bonifaco has been on a base stealing rampage, 8 stolen bases half-way through July, but only 9 in April, May, June.

The American League starter for the all-star game, Jered Weaver, showed his first half was no fluke with another victory to put his record at 12-4.  But, the two earned runs did raise his ERA all the way to 1.90.

Jemile Weeks has been a godsend for the A's since he arrived.  He continued that yesterday with five hits during a double header.  He does not have much power, but he gets on base and he likes to run.  He has 9 steals in 33 games… extend those numbers to a full season and you are looking at 45 steals.  He is only owned in about 20% of leagues, if you need a second baseman, he is worth the pick-up.

Scott Hairston was 3-for-5 with five RBI's in the Mets 11-2 beat down of Philly.  Hairston is good for a couple of these games a year, but don't get too carried away with him.  This is definitely and isolated incident.

Mike Stanton was 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI's in the Marlins 13-3 victory against the Cubs.  He continues to put up strong numbers, on pace for 30 home runs and 100 RBI's, and he does not turn 22 until after the season.

The always tantalizing Rich Harden showed why teams keep dealing with his injury history and fantasy players keep coming back for more.  He tossed 7 innings giving up 3 runs and not factoring in the decision, but he still managed 9 strikeouts.  When he is healthy, even after all these years, there are not many that can match his raw skills.  He is always a gamble, but if you are desperate, and like to gamble, he is worth a pickup.  But, you are obviously playing with fire.

Looks like Ryan Braun re-injured his left calf.  This is certainly something to watch as it would also effect the value of Prince Fielder if he lost the protection of Braun.

On this day in 1941 one of the most unmatchable sports streaks came to its ultimate conclusion when Joe DiMaggio’s quest to add one more game to his 56-game hitting streak came to an end.
