2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Clayton Kershaw Outduels TIm Lincecum

Coming to you from the madness that is San Diego, opening day at the race track + Cristiano Ronaldo + comic con = pure people watching magic.  It isn't any day you see 200 foot signs posted on hotels advertising the soon to be classic "Cowboys & Aliens."  If you need me on Saturday, I will be at Tin Fish drinking beers and counting the storm troopers.

Congrats to Hideki Matsui on his 500th career home run (Japan and US combined).  The only thing he has collected more of in his career are Ron Jeremy DVD's.

Adrian Gonzalez continues to bend over the rest of the American League with another 4 hits in the Red Sox victory.  We cannot talk about Gonzo without talking about the man who was to take his place in San Dieg, Anthony Rizzo!  And….Oh, he is zero for his last twelve, which would be troubling, but everyone knows he peaks in the late summer so the best is yet to come.

As I write this, I'm watching the Real Madrid v. Chivas soccer match, I know, I know, many of you would frown upon this, but where else do you get nuggets like this "Cristiano Ronaldo with the ball, you can hear the shrieks of the girls that came just to see him."  This is probably because the last time he was in San Diego he knocked-up a girl during a one night stand.  I tried to send my wife to the game tonight, but she refuses to take one for the team.

The Phillies continue to roll with dominant pitching and the occasional outburst from one of their everyday players – today it was Jimmy Rollins coming through with 2 home runs in the Phillies 9-1 victory over the Cubs.  Not to be outdone, Jacoby Ellsbury also hit two home runs in the Red Sox victory.

Great pitching today, C.C. Sabathia, Justin Verlander, Jered Weaver, Tommy Hansen, C.J. Wilson and Ian Kennedy, all 10-game winners all with ERA's under 3.4.  The highlight is Weaver vs. Wilson in Anaheim.

On this day in baseball history.  In 2008, Randy Johnson became the first player in baseball history to strikeout 2000 players for two teams.  Thankfully his career ended just before everyone had an HD TV.

The Mariners continued their slide into the abyss that is the American League West cellar, unfortunately, the A's are their to break their fall.  After hovering at or above .500 for most of the season, they lost their 11th straight game, leaving .500 nothing but a distant memory.

Travis Snider has been hot since being recalled on July 4th with 17 RBI's in that span, including two 5-RBI games, and he is still available in roughly one-third of leagues.  On that note the most added player of late is Joe Nathan as he is the official closer for the Twins, not surprisingly, former closer Matt Caps is the most dropped.

Clayton Kershaw out dueled two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum in the Dodger's 1-0 victory.  Kershaw struck out 12 and lowered his ERA to 2.72.

Finally, do the Red Sox REALLY need Carlos Beltran?  I've never seen a more sickening display than the Red Sox owner calling the Yankees the evil empire because of the money they spent.  At this point in time the Red Sox spent more money THAN EVERY TEAM EXCEPT THE YANKEES!  Talk about being out of touch.  For the love of the Pittsburgh Pirates, please God don't let this happen.  Do they need to have an all-star or former all-star at EVERY position?

I’m out, page me.
