Closer News: The Kansas City Royals have temporarily removed Joakim Soria from the closer’s role and manager Ned Yost has appointed Aaron Crow. After the fifth blown save in 12 opportunities, Soria apparently walked into Yost’s office and suggested he be removed from the closer’s role until he gets some confidence back. Soria earned 43 saves last year in 46 chances and has saved 139 games for the Royals in the last five years.

Our condolences go out to Jose Reyes, his family and his fantasy owners. Reyes learned that his grandmother passed away on Monday, and will be on bereavement leave for up to seven days. Fantasy owners will have a big hole to fill at a shallow position for the next week. Consider these guys if can grab one: Yunel Escobar (62% Y!), Erick Aybar (58% Y!), Alex Gonzalez (36% Y!) or Omar Infante (36% Y!)

No round trippers to report from Jose Bautista last night, but the slugging Blue Jay collected two more hits and drove in two more runs while raising his betting average to .356.

Did you add Aaron Crow yet? He is only owned in 28% of Y! and 1% of ESPN leagues.

The Fix would like to congratulate Jo-Jo Reyes on winning his first game in 28 starts. Just think, one more loss and he would have broke the MLB record for consecutive starts without a win!

The Mets’ Dillon Gee improved to 5-0 last night in 7-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gee dished seven innings of five hit, three earned run ball while fanning eight Pirates and not allowing one free pass. The youngster’s ERA improved 3.83 on the season.

Ouch: Danny Espinosa of the Nationals has now been plunked nine times, which ties him for the MLB lead with Carlos Quentin.

Bartolo Colon threw a complete game, four-hit shutout while striking out six and eating 30 White Castle sliders (with cheese). He’s not skinny.

Are we finally seeing the Justin Upton breakout season? The youngster went 5-for-5 last night with a moon shot, three runs batted in, three runs scored and a stolen base. Upton is currently on pace for a 30-30 season.

Speaking of breakouts, Jay Bruce went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, drove in three runs and scored twice in a 7-3 victory over the Brewers. Bruce currently leads the National League with 16 home runs.

Useless Statistic: Kelly Johnson leads MLB in at bats (195) without grounding into a double play.

Kelly Johnson (9), Mike Napoli (10) and Torii Hunter (8) each smacked two out of the park last night.

Heath Bell (13), Ryan Madson (12), Jose Valverde (13), Brandon League (14), and Fernando Rodney (3) each earned saves last night.
