2012 Fantasy Baseball, Week 10 Rookie Report: Berry good things brewing in Detroit

This week we are feeling quite Berry in Detroit and we revisit a star in the making out in Oakland.

SP- JARROD PARKER (OAKLAND)- A month ago I told you to take a wait and see approach with Parker but after last night's performance against the Rangers you need to grab him now. Parker had a no hitter into the eighth inning last night against one of the American League's most potent lineups in the Texas Rangers. He also pitched six scoreless innings the game before against Minnesota. On the year he owns a 2.40 ERA , six quality starts and a 2-2 record. Parker is ony owned in 7.3% of ESPN leagues and should be available.

RP- STEPHEN PRYOR (SEATTLE)- Pryor got the call last week for the Mariners and is now in a muddled bullpen situation out in Seattle. The 6' 4" 245 pound Pryor's minor league numbers are outstanding with a 2.87 ERA and 155 K's in 113 IP in his career. He may get a chance to save games now that Brandon League has been removed from the closers role but that remains to be seen. Keep him on your radar as a watch and see prospect.

2B/3B/OF- ELIAN HERRERA ( LA DODGERS)- Herrara is currently hitting .308 for the Dodgers as he mainly handles the second base job for injured Mark Ellis. His minor league numbers are excellent as well as he has produced two 40+ SB seasons, two 30+ SB seasons and a .282 career BA. The good news for Elian is that Ellis' recovery time has been pushed back which should give him time to show the Dodgers he belongs with the big club. If you need help in the infield especially a multi positional player he is worth a flier pickup.

SS- ANDRELTON SIMMONS (ATLANTA)– Simmons got the call last weekend for the Braves as he started at SS against the Nationals over the weekend. Simmons is mostly noted for his defense but has shown a .299 career average in the minor leagues as well as some speed. Simmons is Baseball America’s 59th rated player and has some potential but for now he is worth watching and maybe an add in N.L. leagues only.

OF- QUINTIN BERRY (DETROIT)- Berry has been starting in center field for the injured Austin Jackson. For the season he owns a .333 and 6 SB's in just 51 AB's. With some uncertainty in the Tiger outfield especially with the injuries to Andy Dirks and Jackson, Quintin has a chance to make his mark on the big league club. With 261 career minor league stolen bases he is exactly what Detroit needs as a table setter for Fielder and Cabrera. I love this guy as he reminds me of a young Juan Pierre. He is definitely worth a grab if you need some speed numbers on your roto team.
