2012 Fantasy Baseball, Week 15 Rookie Report: Turner back in the Bigs
Jacob Turner (credits below)
SP-JACOB TURNER (DETROIT)- Turner got the call back to the bigs last week when Detroit placed fellow rookie Drew Smyly on the DL. The 6'5" , 21 year old righty struggled a bit with his control but still had a decent outing against the Cardinals in his one start on June 21st. Turner is currently 4-2 with a 3.16 ERA in the minors and is a top pitching prospect for the Tigers. He is worthy of a look if you need pitching help.
SP- DAN STRAILY (OAKLAND)- Straily hasn't arrived yet in the bigs but is very close to being called up assuming the A's trade current starter Bartolo Colon by the trade dead line. Straily leads all of baseball in strikeouts with 156 in only 118 2/3 innings pitched. His minor league numbers show him averaging over a strikeout per inning at all levels. If you have roster room Dan is certainly worth a pickup and stash. He is a huge pickup in dynasty leage formats.
SS-JOSH RUTLEDGE (COLORADO)- Josh is hitting .250 with three RBI and two SB's in just 12 major league AB's. He has a solid minor league track record with a career .320 batting average with some pop and stolen base potential. The Rockies have the second worst record in baseball and will be giving their prospects every chance to get seasoning at the big league level. I recommend a wait and see approach with Rutledge for now.
SS- PEDRO CIRIACO (BOSTON)- Pedro is lighting it up since his call up by the Red Sox earlier this month. In seven games he is 13 for 28 hitting .464 with three stolen bases. While I certainly do not expect Pedro to keep up this pace he definitely has injected some life into a rather mediocre Boston lineup. He has the potential to help you in the stolen base and runs category.
OF-YOENIS CESPEDES (OAKLAND)- Cespedes is back raking the ball again after he got a few days off over the all star break to rest this ailing thumb. In his last four games he is 9 for 18 with two home runs and six RBI. His yearly totals are solid as well showing a .282/11/46 line. Cespedes is still available in some leagues with some impatient owners giving up on him earlier in the year. If you need help in the power number categories grab him now.
