You can’t trust kickers and you don’t want to trust rookies, but a couple rookie kickers are becoming the best at their position.

While Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, and Alfred Morris are looking like the best bets among this year’s rookie class, a couple other newcomers have moved near the top of the list of kickers.

Both are not only surprising for their success, but their teams are too, which means they could continue to get plenty of opportunities because their teams are not being blown out as feared. Even some of the best sportsbook reviews are surprised by each team’s success.

Greg Zuerlein of the Rams has made all 13 field goal attempts, including four from beyond 50 yards.  Minnesota's Blair Walsh has made 12-of-13 field goals. On a side note, some of the

My theory on kickers has always been that it is about confidence, so rookies scare me because they haven’t been there before. However, both of these guys showed no nerves early in the season, so I am willing to trust them.

If you need a kicker and either are available, grab them. Both are averaging more than two field goals per game and their teams look like they will hang around games long enough to give them more chances.

Here are a couple other rookies on the rise:

Vick Ballard | RB | Colts: It is all about opportunities for the rookie from Mississippi State, and his is here with the injury to Donald Brown. Ballard has just 42 yards on 21 carries, but will get the opportunity to start for the next two or three weeks. If he performs, he could start the rest of the year because Brown is no lock to get his job back.

Ryan Tannehill | QB | Dolphins: He is becoming a guy you may want to consider in 14- or 16-team leagues and two-quarterback leagues. He has thrown for at least 196 yards each week, but only two touchdowns. He’s thrown the ball at least 30 times in four of five weeks, so the touchdowns will come soon.

Kendall Wright | WR | Titans: His receiving yards have gone up in each of the past four weeks, a good sign that the rookie is getting a better grip on the offense. Nine catches last week, two touchdowns in five games, he’s a solid bet to keep getting better as the season goes on.
