2012 Fantasy Football, Week 6 Tight End Rankings: Vernon Davis On Top Again

Picture

Vernon Davis

1) VERNON DAVIS (NYG)- Davis draws the G-men at home this week as he comes off a 106 yard five catch performance. Vernon continues to be Alex Smith's top target and should see plenty of looks in this matchup.

2) TONY GONZALEZ (OAK)- Gonzo continues to defy father time as he posted a 13 catch, 126 yard one TD performance last week on the road at Washington. This week he draws the Raider defense at home where he should flourish once again.

3) ROB GRONKOWSKI (@SEA)- I am not nuts about Gronk's matchup this week with the tough Seahawk defense in Seattle but he is too good to leave out of the top five. The Seahawks are fifth in the league against the pass and have not given up a touchdown this season to an opposing tight end.

4) KYLE RUDOLPH (@WASH)- Rudy gets the 31st ranked defense in the NFL this week in Washington. Kyle scored once again last week and now has four TD's in his last six games. He also scored last year versus the Redskins.

5) BRENT CELEK (DET)- The Lions may be just what Celek needs to jump start his game. The Lions have given up three touchdowns and a average of 63+ yards per game to opposing tight ends. Look for Michael Vick to use Celek early and often in this game.

6) FRED DAVIS (MINN)- Davis is the only tight end in the NFC to lead his team in both catches (20) and receiving yards (266) but he still has yet to find paydirt. Maybe this is the week against a Minnesota team giving up the sixth-most Fantasy points per game to the tight end position on the year.

7) JARED COOK (PITT)- Cook has scored in two of his last three games. The Steelers do not defend opposing teams tight ends that well which I believe should bode well for Jared in this game. Look for 50-75 yards and a score in this game for Cook.

8) JASON WITTEN (@BALT)- Witten finally came alive last week with a 13 catch 113 yard performance while also adding a touch down. The Ravens pose a tough task for the Cowboy offense this week needless to say.

9) OWEN DANIELS (GBAY)- Daniels has now scored a touchdown in three straight games for the Texans and has hauled in 13 receptions for 177 yards in those games. He continues to be Schaub's favorite target as his 33 targets on the year are a team high. I expect a good day onc again for him against a less than stellar Packer pass defense playing on the road.

10) AARON HERNANDEZ (@SEA)- All signs point to Hernandez returning this week for the Patriots although trying to gauge a Belichik injury report is no easy task. Please check the Sunday updates before inserting him into your lineup.

11) MARTELLUS BENNETT (@SF)- I expect the 49ers to throw everything they have at Eli Manning this week which should open up plenty of opportunities for Bennett in the Giants passing game. The Giants should employ the short game to get things opened up for Manning to look downfield later in the game.

 12) HEATH MILLER (@TENN)-  The Titans are ranked dead last in fantasy points to opposing tight ends. The Thursday night matchup is perfect for Miller. Miller has been an active part of the Steeler offense in the red zone this year.

13) BRANDON PETTIGREW
14) ANTONIO GATES
15) JERMICHAEL FINLEY
16) SCOTT CHANDLER
17) JERMAINE GRESHAM
18) JACOB TAMME
19) DENNIS PITTA
20) COBY FLEENER
